Re: New member new Project

Well its actually not fully aligned yet. I used a tape measure on the front and back of the tires and adjusted the tie rods accordingly to get the tires pointed straight. Then I used the factory shims behind the upper arms but didn't have enough to get the tires straight up and down. Now this is just temporarily until I Can get it to an alignment shop. Make sure your alignment is done at ride height.

Alright! I'm excited again! My parts came in after four weeks wait
Things will start moving again
Fitted Performance Online aluminum fuel cell, had to trim the rearmost crossmember to let it slide down into place

FYI .. Believe it or not if you buy the Magaughys' big 13" brake kit, you will have to pull the rear axles and have the hubs turned down in two places so they will fit in the rotors. So it was back to the shipyard again today.

Painted spindles, calipers, and hubs in last two days, now I can finally move toward a rolling chassis.

I want to build a complete 67-72 Dropmember chassis like you.
I can't make myself cut up the blazer,... so it will never be that low.

I've started a Dropmember project with my '86,... but I really want to do a 67-72 model instead.

Keep those pictures coming!

Thanks Man

Good luck with yours also!

Update: For last couple days.. Finished up control arms

Jumped into the Mcgauhys' Big Brake kit.. it was a MF!.. no directions, had to go trial and error all the way. They didn't even put.. Some assembly required on the box! Finally figured out the way the rear caliper brackets will work I think. Got the spindles and hubs on, calipers and rotors, I think they will be OK.

Installed air bags, rack and pinion, and sway bar.

Send me some pics of your truck

I put some temporary air lines on so I can roll the chassis around

Roughed in the wheel alignment and installed shocks

Come on back down to Rocky Point and we'll drink some ice cold Tecate lights!

Thanks Nuke, Blake, and mcbassin,

I thought it would look cool to color coordinate the components to the original truck color rather than just all black or silver, somethin' different.

Set the cab on it today, body drop worked out really well, just had to trim floor a little for driveshaft carrier bearing support. After that it layed right down on pinch with room to spare in cab mounts. (Thanks Nate, you were right, .75" was perfect on the body drop mounts specs)

Thanks

I'm so excited about getting it running and driving it that it is hard to sleep at night. I'm laying there in bed thinking: I gotta do this and then I gotta do that and on and on.

Did some more trimming on body parts today to get them to lay down over the tires.

Was going to attach some pics but I can't figure out how

Nice Truck! On the body drop, Did you also drop the front mounts .75 for the core support? Cant tell from the pics, and you already painted the frame so I can assume you are not cutting it like a traditional body drop right? Thanks for any info. Again Nice Truck!

Thanks for the compliments Tony

When I decided to drop this truck to the pinchwelds last May, I had no clue. The guys on the forum directed me to Porterbuilt and he gave me advice and direction on the project. Nate told me how to do the body drop. You have the four cab mounts and two core support mounts. Cut the rivets off and bring the supports down and drill holes and put bolts. As for the bed, just notch out the sheet metal on the bed where it sits on the frame the same amount as you drop the other mounts.
