was visited tonight by a box full of SMC valves from suicidedoors. first off, let me say that ***************** is a great place to do business with. I ordered these valves Monday, and here today and packaged well...... and I stole them @ $22 a piece. brand new, still in the factory bubble wrap. so now I have......

I removed the front springs tonight. here's a tip. if PB Blaster doesn't work to get the taper fit free, try a propane torch. only heat the spindle body, not the ball joint studs. the heat will expand the female taper fit. works like a charm eerytime I remove ball joints.

Chris, I plan on checking the front cups (drop ins) for fit and finish. I am also completely cleaning the front suspension as well as I can until I can put it on a rack. (hint hint scottrod?!)

got to thinking tonight about a "backup" in case the compressor failed. I may put a tee on at each bag and run a Schrader. bad luck tends to follow me, so anything to increase my odds in the other direction, I should explore.

Nate,
I used Rustoleum Industrial OIL based enamel in flat black in a can. it goes on smooth, self levels, and after dry, is fairly tough, especially when brushed on.

I was going to use POR15, but that stuff does NOT come off..... and eventually, I want the frame completely blasted and powdercoated. but for now, this is a viable choice that will come off under normal media blasting. I highly recommend the Rustoleum for normal underbody protection!!

Sounds like the balljoint delema is solved, another way to do it is loosen the castle nut half of the way on the balljoint and while the joint is under spring load take two 3 lb hammers, one is held tight against one side of the spindle at the joint mounting and then the other hammer stikes the opposite side of the spindle temporarily oblonging the hole and releasing the two, make sure from here the spring is unloaded again before the nut is removed, usually works first or second hammer blow.

the rear install is pretty much bolt on. The front depending on how you do it is a little more demanding. Good Luck and you will want to go lower it will be just a matter of time. As far as a back up to the compressor put the schrader valve on the tank.

I have some dodge 17" wheels like yours, but never wanted to re-drill my axles & stuff for them to fit

As for the bags, I would buy the Slams... I have both & the Slams look much better made

As for the back up, I put a schrader on my tank as well

if you have a 67-70 truck you want to go 17" steelies on, these will work straight outta the box. they are Toyota FJ Cruiser rims, 17" x 7.5" wide on a 6 x 5.5" bc. I'm running a .75 spacer on them now, but once the truck is lower, I may remove them to tuck in better.

I've always liked your builds! thanks for coming by my build. my truck will still look like a 4x4 compared to some of your rigs!!! :lol:!!

starting on the bolt on upper bag plates tonight. made my own drill bit to get to one of the holes.... call me McGyver!

took my suicidedoors drop in bag cups in this afternoon to get a shave. I estimated 5/8" off the total height would be good.

I'll get pics soon of my progress.

got a little done over the past couple of nights. I also ordered my bags. with a lot of thought and with suicidedoors recommendations, I went with Airlift Dominator D2600's. can't wait 'til they show up on the doorstep! thanks again suicidedoors!

first, I took my drop in lower bag cups to my fabricator and had him cut them down approximately 5/8". they seem to sit perfect now. 5/8" doesn't sound like a lot, but it actually is when your trying to get as close to the floor as you can. here's the look of the cup in the pocket:

you know, specialized tools are expensive, but my God, they are so worth it. I even cut down a drill bit, and made my own short length bit. when you have to get something done, nothing should stand in the way......

and for the grand unveiling..... in this pic, I raised the entire assembly up to when my tire was touching the inner fender. I measured and I still have about a inch to play with if I decide to ditch the inner fenders. but for now, this is where I'll dial the front end to.....

the first place I head to after we get back on the road is my muffler shop!! may have to modify the crossmember, buy a CPP unit, or drop out right under the cab. oh well, that decision for another day.

These are by far, the nicest ones out there. (I just happen to own one now)
Plus, they have the multiple mounting point to help dial in the pinion angle.
And,... you might as well get a set of Nate's new tubular trailing arms,... and,...
