Re: Sbw and bbw
Now what I don't understand is that "the colder climates/notherners" have all the big back windows, I have to see one yet! My dad had three of these trucks when I was a kid, Im on my second. And yet never have I spotted a big back window even in a junk yard! They look cool but Id rather keep to the lil window!

Re: Sbw and bbw
Also, if you are a nose-picker, the sbw is better!

Re: Sbw and bbw
Hey Tony,
Nice examples of BBW cabs, my choice for sure. I have a question. Why is it that a majority of the 64-66 BBW cabs have an automatic or 3 speed on the colmn with the low hump floors as opposed to a 4 speed with the high hump? I like a 4 speed better than the others and these cabs are hard to find. You can find SBW cabs with a 4 speeds and high humps all day long. I know you can convert to the high hump, but I have not seen this where it looks good out on the fire wall. |

Re: Sbw and bbw
Ironically, in the five photos, there are four different trucks or cabs and all four of them are factory bbw cabs with factory 4-speed-on-the-floor transmissions in them.

Re: Sbw and bbw
also don't forget that 4 speed transmissions were an option.3 speed column shift was standard equipment.talking about bare bones trucks=small rear window,6 cylinder,3 speed on column,no chrome,no rear bumper.that was the standard equipment truck.when ordering a new truck this is what you started with then started adding options.some people think that big window trucks are the only one's that were custom cabs.this is not true.in 1960-66 trucks everything was an option.they only made two option packages on these trucks.1= the custom cab package which included anodized bright grill, windshield trim, trim on dash knobs, two toned door panels, nylon and vinyl two toned seat, custom plates on b pillar, passenger door lock, deluxe steering wheel.2=custom comfort package which includes the same seat as above, passenger door lock, passenger sun visor, heavy duty under coating, deluxe air heater.even on the custom cabs you had to order side trim mouldings extra, and also the chrome bumpers and hub caps came together in a package to their selves.note no 4 wheel drive trucks came with hubcaps never.also about the seats the custom cabs and the custom comfort packages with the two toned nylon and vinyl seats had better springs in them(they dont break down as bad as the standard seats do).thats about all for now.i'm not looking in a book about this i quoted it from memory.thanks

Re: Sbw and bbw
Momma said be satisfied with what your born with, of course if ya got money it solves some of these problems. I like sbw and I like bbw cause I own one of each. But it wasn't because I could afford either of these trucks. It just happend then came the addiction, and the decision witch one do I pump money into next? I know I'll pound a nail in one shoe and spin out!...Vernski:burnout:
