Re: Cup holder idea's needed
I have one of the ashtray conversions. The holder snaps closed when I remove the can from the holder.
I do like the holder with the arm rest being the lazy guy that I am. Thanks all for the suggestions. SOL I will be by for buford. |

Re: Cup holder idea's needed
I don't have a picture yet, but I am going to fabricate a type of cup holder that runs down from the ashtray and will allow for any sized convenience cup to be used. I have a plastic one that dangles off the ash tray, but want a type that can be installed and removed easly and is efficient enough that won't promote spill, no screw holes. Great thread. I also like the wood, home made slide in ash tray type that I saw on here. That would be a quik fix.

This is what I use in my work truck and it has honestly never ever failed. The adhesive on the sides of the roll keeps it stuck to the floor, and a 12oz beer oops i mean soda will never dump over if its inside the roll. |
Re: Cup holder idea's needed
I just remembered what I use as a cup holder in my '88. I use my son's seat; it's got a built in cup holder.:haha:
I'm gonna post a pic of it tomorrow. If you get one of those you can put a baby doll in it and cruse in the HOV lane. :haha: |

What about this one? It might be in the way of your 4 speed though.

Re: Cup holder idea's needed
take a campbels soup can and put a speaker magnet in the bottom. stick to anything metal and a 20 oz fits in it nice. you can go high class and wrap in with duck tape of any color.

I finally finished my "cup holders," so I thought I would share a couple of pics. My real goal was to add some speakers, but I don't like the look of the kick panels. I've also been wanting some cup holders, but wasn't crazy about anything I had seen. So after tinking about it for a while, I figured why not tackle both at one time. Here's what I ended up with:

Re: Cup holder idea's needed
The ones that are being sold that go in the stock ashtry locates the drink right in front of the radio. And if anything splashes out... yep, all over the radio.
We can do better. GM had underdash cup holders in the early 90's. Basically an add on deal. There are some on Ebay if you don't want to hit up the local junk yard. Search for "dash cup holder" 92 chevy pull out under dash cup holder |
Re: Cup holder idea's needed
This one looks good and strong. I am thinking of ordering one to do the ash tray install on the photo.
