Guys, Matt here with Southern Sunshine Racing, we want to thank everyone for the kind words and hope to continue to make posts on this fourm to update everyone with the happenings. AS of now we have a show tomorrow in Vinton, La and then a show in Lake Charles, La the next weekend. Also next week we will be bringing the Cajun King monster Caddy out of the shop for the first time in 24 years to get a bath, and then pulling it in the shop bay next to Sunshine. We will then start to get that truck back running again. Thanks Paul for posting all the Sunshine info on here.

Also, I learned a good way to clean up Rusty Dusty Chrome, some 0000 scrubbing metal(cant remember what the real name for that stuff is) and a lot of wax, douse the scrubbing metal in the wax, and scrub away, then wipe it off with a dry rag and Presto Chango!! Chrome Like New!![/QUOTE]

Thank you for sharing this trick with me you saved me some money. I did this yesterday on my valvecovers and I was in total shock. Thanks :metal:

Yesterday we pulled the caddy out of the shop for the first time in 24 and a half years. Glenn brought a forklift from work and we pulled him out, gave it a bath, and then put it in the bay next to Sunshine. We should be starting on it REAL soon.

Re: Project: Old Monster Truck, New Life

small update, weve been doing a few shows with Southern Sunshine. In January, for the first time since 1985 she participated in a real Monster Truck show again, even crushed some cars in the downtime between shows....

Since then the guys have been working on Cajun King, and last month fired her up for the first time, and that 427 in the King is a beast...

also the guys have pulled the factory Dash out of the King and replaced it with an aluminum one, and it is getting new Bucket seats as well.....

and most recently, both Southern Sunshine and Cajun King have found there way into an upcoming Graphic Novel about Superheroes that didnt quite make the cut....

Just a quick update, the Cadillac has been tuned up and tired up, and let me tell you, that 427 in it is a Screamer. Its scary powerful for the way that Cajun King is built.
They have put a new dash in Cajun King, redone the rear steering setup for Southern Sunshine, put a new seal in the rear axle of Southern Sunshine...
Other than that, its been bushiness as usual, had some boy scouts visit the shop a few weeks ago, also had some folks from South Africa visit.
Also we have signed, numbered, and dedicated 16x20 Southern Sunshine Racing 25th anniversary edition posters available(limited run of 500) for $25+$5 S&H) if anyone wants one, just give me a PM and I will foreward you all the pertinent info about getting in touch with Glenn or Renee to get one.

Anyone in the S/E Texas, S/W LA Area this next weekend, Cajun King will be on Display at The Isle of Capri Casino in West Lake on Saturday, while Southern Sunshine will be on display at Stars and Stripes in Sulphur, Louisiana on Saturday as well, we'd be glad to see ya!

Re: Project: Old Monster Truck, New Life

sorry for being stagnant on this thread for so long....

Yeah there have been some pretty major happenings since I posted this.
Sadly, due to storage and financial concerns both trucks have been sold out of the Williams family. However, that is not a completely bad thing. Southern Sunshine is now owned by one of us who started this rebuild, Gary Davis of Fred, TX and Cajun King has been sold to a mud park in SWLA where it is used as an MC and display vehicle. Southern Sunshine continues to do local S/E TX, S/W LA events and is leading a double life as Southern Nitemare as well.

Sadly, due to Life, our little group is not as close as it was when we started, but we still all do what we can.

look us up on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php...f=ts&ref=br_tf and dont be afraid to ask questions!!
