To answer the question about milage (thirsty thirsty thirsty)lol... but I did not buy this truck for milage. Thanks for all the compliments.

Very nice, as for colors, I think two tone with white always looks great on the 67/68 with the trim:

Nice truck and I can't believe you just hopped in it and drove 20 hrs! I wouldn't drive mine more than 1 hour. The bench seat kills my back.

Love the pic from the back. That dude is perfectly level!!!

Hey prostreetc-10 your coment made me laugh because when I first made the deal with the guy I was not concerned at all about the drive home but latter that evening after I drove the truck to our hotel and realized how loud this thing was I had a bit of buyer remorse. After a bit of thought I just went over to the local schucks and purchased a few items just incase (gas can, oil ,antifreeze, tranny fluid etc) the only thing that really happened on the way home was every single collector bolt rattled loose so after about 4 unplanned stops and some new bolts we were good to go. That was probably the most stressfull drive i have ever done just listening for every little thing but at the end of the day I'm glad i made the drive home. I can't wait to start workin on this thing and start to really enjoy it. Chad.

Nice ride. I checked the truck out when I first got to the swap. Glad it is in good hands. How low is it and what is the tire and rim size. I like the stance.

perfect and level don't go hand in hand unless you have a trailer hitched up. even stacy david left some rake in Copperhead when he built it. level looks like the rear is sagged. vehicles look soo much sportier with the nose down and the tail up like an animal about to pounce...its the old school hot rod look. thats a minor "fix" but i do like the truck. it looks racy without being so ground scraping it can no longer classify as a truck. i say pick a single color and leave the trim and all intact. also, a beefed up 200-r4 will make the highway drive a breeze. a 3.73 is awesome for quick take off and 1/2 ton trucks pulling loads and OD gives you far better rpms than a straight 3.07. nice rig!

oh....also liked the ambulance (gmc burb) you saw at the swap meet. that would look awesome in a parade!

Silly.....I said I liked the pic from the back.....perfectly level. That meant from side to side. Nothing worse than when a truck is too low on either pass or driver's side. She is straight across level.

Of course all trucks need even just a tad of rake! lol

I saw that truck as you were leaving on Sat and thought it looked sweet. It looks very similar to my old '67! I think it's awesome that you drove the distance back home! I want to do something like that at some point.

I guess that plate is up for grabs now fellow Oregonians! ;)

CMacdonald1 - That is awesome that you hopped in and drove it 20 hrs. A buddy and I jumped in my old 69 GMC (that I bought in Edmonton for parts) and drove it from Calgary to New Brunswick last summer. Threw a gallon of oil, tranny fluid, Antifreeze, Alternator, 2 spare tires, tools and 5 gallons of gas in the box and drove home for my wedding. I put cruise control on it and I set it when we left Calgary and that old 396 never hiccuped the whole 2850 miles. Took a little tranny fluid, seal was bad on the dipstick, but the oil in the engine looked like it was just changed when we got there.

When I got home I pulled my other old 69 out of the barn and my wife and I drove it back out on our honeymoon. Can't beat GM products.

Great looking truck you have there. Enjoy :metal:

Very cool.

It looks like the PO compiled a great truck out of good OEM pieces, well, except for the hood.

Does it still have the glovebox? I'm curious as to whether it's really a 50th shortie or if it started out as a LWB truck.

That's a sweet looking truck! It looks like all the hard work is already done, just pick a color and spray it.

Can't get better than a short fleet 68. Cool truck and you drove it home, that is super.. I like it just the way it is, but I know if it was mine I'd want to get it painted after a year or two. I know what you are talking about with the noise. I drove mine to Red Deer ( your town ) in 2006 for the Super Run that year. I too have a 396 with 3:73's and a Turbo 400 and like you the engine turned 3200 RPM at 60 mph and as a side note the gas was 1.19 a litre at that time and it cost me 342.00 in gas for the return trip.

the fellow i purchased the truck from said it was an orignial big block shortbox. one of the things he pointed out is that it had factory dual exhaust but i can not say that i have ever seen factory dual exhaust on one of these trucks. maybe somone on here could clarify if that was an option at the time. one thing i was kind of disapointed about was someone has removed the spid from the glovebox. so i guess i will never know what this truck really started out as but for me i'am happy about the purchse whatever it is.

I do not know if the info is available for US trucks but I contacted the GM Historical Socirty and sent them 50.00 and my serial number and got all the specs for my truck including original puchasers name and dealership it sold from. Do any of you guys in the USA know if that can be done with your American trucks?

Yeah......that is pretty sick right there!!

Omgosh.....I was lookin back through the pics and saw that rat rod with the for sale sign in it. When we saw that at the meet, we died laughing at the extra headlight bucket turned into a carb scoop. Guess nuthin' is off limits when building a rat turd.

Hey great score.

Good swap meet this year. Really wish it was atleast twice a year rather than just once. I look forward to it all year and am sad when it is over.
