DANG you went muddin!

Miles of gravel roads huh..I remember SD as BIG open fields...lots of combines, and more BIG rolling hills!

Re: "The 72" build

hahah call me wierd but i didnt do anything with the minor cracks on the wheel. i kind of like em. theyre pretty small. you cant even see the metal rod in the the center in any of em. yeah the roads have been a mess!!! you should see it today.... its worse. my poor slot mags. yeah next monday, the progress will slow down due to harvest starting. that will probly run a month. every nite after school till who knows how late

oldblue1968chevy 09-16-2010 10:13 PM

Re: "The 72" build

haha shoulda jb welded em up!

ive had another modification on my mind for awile. would you think its tacky to put a cb radio in my pickup? im obsesed with semis. almost more than old chevys. ive always wanted one but my dad will never put one in our trucks

Re: "The 72" build

ive been plannin out my 383 stroker and ive got a few questions. im gonna go with a 1996-2000 383 stroker block from summit. they said it accepts mechanical fuel pumps. do cams made for factory roller blocks have the fuel pump eccentric on the cam? and it seems like the roller grinds are way hotter than flat tappet grinds and they have the same power ranges. can rollers be alot hotter and still live on the street?

Re: "The 72" build

yeah throw a cb under the dash and a whip out the stake pocket!!

Charles Hettich 09-23-2010 10:02 PM

Re: "The 72" build

Re: "The 72" build

well i orderd summits 383 stroker block. its a vortec block machined and clearanced for a 383 stroker. im still deciding what rotating assembly and cam and heads to go with. any suggestions?

oldblue1968chevy 09-26-2010 12:07 AM

Re: "The 72" build

i think scat is better than eagle..

heard good things about xe268 for power

Charles Hettich 09-26-2010 02:36 PM

Re: "The 72" build

yeah ive heard scat is better than eagle also. ill check out that cam. i dont wanna go to hot since this is my daily driver

oldblue1968chevy 09-26-2010 02:48 PM

Re: "The 72" build

Im not sure if that cam is for roller setup or not, I would suggest putting a post in the engines forum

tell your specs rearend gear rpm range etc etc etc and ask for some suggestions

im assuming you wanna build same motor as me but 383 :) Mines not anywhere closed to being tuned so I cant give you any info on the thumper, ive heard its more of a noisemaker than power maker, it does sound awesome though..

Charles Hettich 09-26-2010 04:14 PM

Re: "The 72" build

yeah ive heard that about the thumpr. but ive also heard they make good power from some people. yeah the closest roller grind is the 270 which is what i think im gonna go with

Charles Hettich 09-29-2010 10:02 PM

Re: "The 72" build

i ordered the rotating assembly today. i went with a scat kit. its got forged flattop pistons, 6 inch i beam rods, and a cast crank. i think im gonna go with the edelbrock top end kit. they say they made it for the 383 stroker and they claim it makes 460 hp

oldblue1968chevy 09-29-2010 10:11 PM

Re: "The 72" build

jeez! 460hp!! How much you plan on having in this build if you dont mind sharing?

Charles Hettich 09-29-2010 10:38 PM

Re: "The 72" build

i just did a rough estimation of 4700. but thatd be with everything completed including headers hopefully. but this is my one opportunity and i wanna do it right. ive dreamed of this for like 5 years now
