Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Here are some more pictures. The first is the carpet around the shifters. Can you buy it already cut like this?
http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...eepman/231.jpg The next is the wood in the bed: http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...eepman/217.jpg This is the drivers side. Dont you love the green door. The original door is in the back. http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...eepman/207.jpg The last pic is the rear springs. The two leaf kind? http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...eepman/213.jpg If you want to see any more pics let me know. |
Re: 67 gmc 4x4
why was the driver door taken off???
|
Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Thanks for the info Rick, and everybody's comments. I am missing that mirror and the choke knob. Also the drivers side seatbelt.
|
Re: 67 gmc 4x4
The previous owner must have had the door open and backed up and sprung the door backwards. I may be able to fix it, but not sure.
|
Re: 67 gmc 4x4
yes the seat belts are one year only as well i knew i was forgeting somthin...well i found out the hard way so i always tell all the new 67 owners you are also missing a cigarette lighter knob

Re: 67 gmc 4x4
I believe the 67-68 had the 2 leaf rear springs. Im not 100% certain though.
|
Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Yes my 67 4x4 has 2 leaf rear springs
|
Re: 67 gmc 4x4
That is good to know that the springs are right.
Here is a pic of the belts: http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...eepman/224.jpg A better pic of the front: http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...eepman/204.jpg |
Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Looks like a great project.
|
Re: 67 gmc 4x4
you have a middle seat belt!!!!! wow amzingly hard to find for a 67 you have a gmc so you need the 67 seat belts with no bow tie on them unless you grind it off and make it smooth like a gmc one....
|
Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Now im even more jealous. i love the front of the 67 gmc's especially the bumper guards. your truck is definately a good start for a project.

Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Naturally I like it! I think you will find the GMC V-6 makes a great off road engine. Loads of torque at low r.p.m.'s. Correct on the 2 leaf tapered rear springs. The right valve cover does come very close to the firewall. In fact, the shop manual says to put the #6 cylinder on the exhaust stroke before you try to remove it. There is a 'sweet spot', when you find it the valve cover comes right off.
If you don't already know, here is the greatest collection of GMC V-6 experts known to man: http://www.6066gmcguy.org/ Great truck, good luck with it. |
Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Please keep sharing photo's! That thing is a gold mine of things to document, since it hasn't been messed with too much.
I'm interested in the drive train in particular. Axles, engine, trans, and t-case. Save that carpet, and have a new one made using that one as a template. The t-case rubber boot is not reproduced in the original style like that, so if it is still good enough to save then I recommend it. 67/68 Stuff like that is only reproduced in a generic fit all style, which to me is frustrating when vendors tout things as being correct when they are in fact not. |
Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Glad to see all of the replies. Keep them coming.
I will gladly take any pictures that anyone wants to see. Thanks for all of the ideas on the interior pieces. I will save all that I can for a template. |
Re: 67 gmc 4x4
well any pics of the back?
|
Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Sorry Rick, I don't have any pics of the back yet. My camera died because I had the flash on inside the shop. I will get some pics tomorrow.
Here are two other pics: http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...eepman/218.jpg Here is a pic of that mount that has been welded: http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...eepman/228.jpg |

Re: 67 gmc 4x4
*****en truck I am curently prowling for the exact truck congrats. What size wheels are on it? it looks like some wheel i have been looking for?
|
Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Corsair the rims are just regular 15 inch steel rims. I guess the 67 half tons had 15 inch rims. I want to find some original full hubcaps with the black center and the white letters.
Rick the truck has been painted. After I started looking more closely I see that the top was painted white when it was new, and the bottom was a metallic blue. It is the same color that you see on the dash. At one time someone paited the lower portion of the truck white too (under the side chrome which is missing). I can see where the overspray hit the back of the cab and the front of the bed, but there is blue under that paint. On the top the white is the first layer. |
Re: 67 gmc 4x4
oh well maybe you do it back original style? i never did like the white under our 67-8 trim
|
Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Nice start, I like it.

Re: 67 gmc 4x4
Yeah I think just the top was white, the rest of the truck was blue. Eventually I will repaint it. Right now im just fixing a few little things to get it ready to drive some. I'm checking the joints, the fluid levels in everything, cleaning out the cowl, and working on the carburator.
