Well, a rather lazy update.
I've been waiting on AirRide Technologies for the last month to send me two 2 gallon air tanks and an E3 kit. The tanks arrived on Monday, and the rest finally arrived this evening. In the mean time, the frame has been stripped down and sand blasted. The factory holes have been filled and it's been strengthened in many areas. Now that the rest of the air ride stuff is here it will be added to the frame for mock up, and then go to powder coating. I might get some pictures of the stripped frame tomorrow. I just reviewed this thread and realized that I never said here that my 350 turned out to be a 305. Rookie mistake...... I didn't know to check the casting numbers at the time of purchase.
I've decided to go with the 305, but not spend any real money on it so as not to interrupt my build. I might find a hot little 327 or a 383 later anyway. It wouldn't change much. Motor mounts are the same.......... I think. Doesn't matter. It's more important to get this thing as close to looking like a truck as possible, as soon as possible. With engine, or without. |

i feel your pain. i bought what i thought was a 350 from a guy to make a stroker out of. then got talked into the :chevy:454:chevy: so i bought it and sold my dad the 350. he started putting it together after it got bored out and nothin was feeling rite and some of the torque specs were not adding up. so he pulled the #'s an headed to town. called me up to thank me for the '69 large journal 327 that i sold him.:lol::metal: he put it in his '62 impala w/ a 4spd and i'll tell ya, that girl moves!:metal:

The air ride stuff is all from Ride Tech.
Frame was powder coated. The tanks are just sitting there for right now. They'll like mount in that area, and the compressors will likely fall into place somewhere close. The rear end and rest of the suspension parts are all blasted and ready for black paint. Both gloss and satin finishes with the black. FYI. I've got NV3500, too. The only beech of the thing was making the pedals work and bleeding the clutch slave. Does your have the internal or external throw out? The external is the one we have.

Unfortunately I'm not educated about that tranny enough to answer your question Dan.
The pedal set up is all fabbed in. It was moved once though. I was originally going to run the brake booster from the firebird, mounted on the firewall. That forced the clutch over to the left quite a bit and it felt really awkward. Then, I learned that I could hide all of that crap under the cab and have a much better pedal set up so I bought one of them fancy boosters from CCP. Ditched the firebird steering column for a nice one from CCP at the same time. |

If you look at the side of the trans, is there a setup on the passenger side with a small slave cylinder or are there tubes that run into the side of the trans? I think the later ones have the integral set up. Ours is an 88.
I'm thinking of the underfloor booster for the brakes on our 1 ton panel later this year. Got to get the frame sorted out first. |
