Well we got into the box......the nice people i bought the truck from helped promote and increase bondo shares. Bondo didn't make it better in this case, the back strip where the tailgate closes to....well they wanted a nice smooth look so they filled it. Yes they used bondo....about 1" thick 3" wide. So needed to strip the entire box sides and start from scratch. Nope that isn't me by the way.....but look at the fun he is having...

Well the " HULK " is back from blasting.....the new floor pans showed up with the cab corners and rockers....If your going to go ....go big....I think i decided on a green and white version of a paint scheme.....with yes....A picture of the HULK on the tailgate with something like " You wouldn't like it when I am angry"......

I hear ya. Having good friends around who like to cut up just makes the whole project thing that much more enjoyable.

Well, mostly been working on Dad's. We are putting a jag rear end in it. This is his second time to do the jag thing. We put one under his 57 pickup a few years back and it turned out very nice. Awesome ride, 4 wheel disc brakes, 4 wheel independent suspension. Rode like a caddy. Since he is getting older i have to do more to help him because he is limited physically on the hard stuff. So, hopefully over the next few weeks we will have the rear done on his truck. My truck is still covered with parts and crap, LOL. Check out this link to see the new shop and his truck.

Well we got the doors ready and the new rockers are almost in, I will take some better pictures really soon. But we took a break and went to the portland swap meet and brought back a load of parts to finish off this and the 66 SBBW street version on the go .

It was a adventure getting everything tied down and ready for the freeway....but it all worked out and we made it with everything just the way it was when we left portland.

As soon as i get a chance I will take some pictures of the new rockers and floor that are going in....I started tearing out the front suspension last night and i guess I will have to figure out where the best place to order all the ball joints and stuff is....I think there was a thread on the board someplace that showed all of the part numbers i needed. Will have to take a look and see what I can find.....any suggestions ?

Well everyone sorry about the progress reports and pictures , but i will catch up as soon as i can...Made some serious progress on the floors and doors and it's taking shape now.I kind of got side tracked with trucks lately...I bought a 1966 LB fleetside big back window truck and a 1965 short box fleetside small window in the last couple of weeks and it's cut into my rebuild time

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Well it's a busy project thats given me alot more grey hair then i had when I started it. For some reason every time i touch something on this truck it breaks, rusts or falls off. So my basic strategy has been to just pour more money and time into when i should have maybe taken a break from it and work on one of the other trucks. But thats trucking in the fast lane i am sure we all have the same problems.......On that note I am updating the pictures today so you will see how much progress has been made. The Merlin is down at the machine shop for a check up and the tranny is ready to go at the tranny shop just need to figure out a converter and get it all ready for paint.

So the body shop call me and say's...." This short box is a bit worse then we thought do you have anything better ? "....They know I have about 8 more in my yard...chuckles... Turns out after checking the site out we came up with the idea of not cutting down a box but cutting down the sides and replace the panel.....

wutnxt 05-11-2011 01:30 PM

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

The reason we went with this instead of cutting down a complete box is because the front header panel and rear box section are differnt because of all the rolled and beaded floor in the box and the way it bolts down. So rather then replace all of that into a new box we went with cutting down long box sides and putting them onto a shortbox. I had a open thread on asking how to cut the boxes down and got some great feed back which got me to what we did.

So after we marked the openings out....(I should mention someone pointed out to me that the wheel openings on a long box are 3" more then a short box ....Which i had no idea, but with the big 33" X 21.5"'s filling them up you can't tell at all.)...So don't measure the layout from the bottom openings or your going to come out short.....
