Yea I would think a simple tune up will fix all your problems! New gas caps are cheap just get 2 of them. Nice looking truck I would defiantly keep it. I am so glad there no smog tests up here haha!

This thread reminds me of a cartoon in an older hotrod magazine, the kid is breaking his butt working on his car into the night getting upset, his dad walks over and says "one day you'll tell everyone this was the best car you have ever owned".
Made me think of my first truck, still feel the same way down to this day, and that was some 35 years ago.
Hang in there you'll get it fixed.

Thanks alot for the encouragement i didnt really mean that haha i think i was just a little frustrated. I payed the tags already $92 and i have until the 30th so hopefully i will get it to pass by this weekend

That's how I am about my old 77... :lol: I remember driving that thing for almost a year with no 2nd gear in my TH350. You had to floor it off the line then let off totally so it would kick on into 3rd and then drive super easy because if it tried to catch 2nd gear, it would clunk and bang and act like you slammed on the brakes... I cheated on my emissions though... Mine wouldnt pass one year so I registered it at my grandads house as he lived the county over and they didnt have emissions there...

I'm glad I live in minnesota, other than the snow! No emission laws up here, and I always wondered what the sheets looked like! Hope you stick to it and get it to pass because you have a sweet looking truck! GOOD LUCK!!!!

You know, that's not a bad idea! My Auto class instructor was saying that there's two counties in California that allow you to forfeit smogging your vehicle unless you sell it. I'm thinking I might find the county and get me a P.O. Box. :metal:

other than that we have to smog test ever other year, and/or if we change ownership of the vehicle, and ever year it gets tighter and tighter on the allowable tail-pipe emissions.

Rural San Bernardino, near the Arizona Border doesn't require smog.

we have most of the same laws here but also inspection so steering, suspension, brakes and emissions has to be good to pass and i think its fine sometimes it can be quite annoying but in the end its safer for everyone because some cars, trucks and vans should not be drivin out in the public

Tell me about it im in the same situation i just got the truck months ago and got a paint job like yours.Yours looks metallic like mine but lighter nice color.I just put new tires on mine but since im going to lift it 31s are going to go sigh wast of money..also i need to get rims and everything but time tells you can't fight things these trucks are simple.You just got to break down what you want to do and soon it will be finished.I also got to get a expection before i drive in the comming week.

I agree that truck is extremely clean, I tried finding something wrong with it and nothing the interior is also very nice. Only thing i would change is the grill he painted the top and bottom of the bars red and i think it looks dumb. It is his truck though.

I don't think you need smog up in Sonora either.

Kind of cracks me up... People bust our chops about the smog laws and bust our chops about our bad air quality! Still rather smog my truck every two years than shovel snow!
