Here is a link to the old build and that is how it sits in the barn now. I was going to try and do an all metal dash but now that I have had time to think it over I am going to go custom fiberglass. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...highlight=girl |
Re: Aussie 78 Stepside
Thanks for that,.
Here is the easy way to do the Dash, Fiberglass RHD http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...6/P1010167.jpg And here is a Photo of a GM Delivered RHD Cab. in the 70's GM would supply them to Holden, GM's Austrailan Divison as LHD Drive, once here Holden would then Convert them to RHD, They used a Fiberglass Dash and Had Cover Plates that just Bolted in to cover any unused Holes in the Fire Wall. Im not being that lazy. http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...OGDzCKw_12.jpg |
Re: Aussie 78 Stepside
This is the Heater/AC Unit that Im fitting into It, The Best $300.00 bucks Iv'e ever sent on Ebay, It's 16 " Long x 11" Tall and only 6" Thick, with a 3 Speed Fan, It's made by Jayair and It will mount nice under the Dash.

Re: Aussie 78 Stepside
Interesting stuff here. I've always wanted something RHD to be unique, but I figure the novelty would wear off pretty fast once I started driving it here.

Re: Aussie 78 Stepside
Iv'e been a busy Boy, The Drag Link has been cut and Extended for the the 88 C1500 Steering Box and is mounted and the Idle Arm has been tweaked, Iv'e still got a little bit more adjusting with the Spacers do get it to line up with the Column, but it's looking good.
http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...6/P1010211.jpg http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...6/P1010212.jpg The Brake Booster is in and the Steering Column is also in http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...6/P1010210.jpg http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...6/P1010214.jpg http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...6/P1010215.jpg http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...6/P1010216.jpg I also made up a Heater Box to Weld into the Fire Wall, The Heater / AC Unit was a little to long to fit under the Dash, The Glove Box wasn't going to work with it, So I desided to have half of it in the Engine Bay, It worked out a much easier way to Pipe it up as well, Ok it looks like a Bread Box, but I don't Care. It is going to work that all that matters, Hell I had to fill the Hole up with something. I think it worked out ok, Iv'e got the Heater Hoses running along the Engine and the AC along the Fender where the Dry is going to be mounted. http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...6/P1010219.jpg http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...6/P1010217.jpg http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...6/P1010218.jpg http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...6/P1010220.jpg |
Re: Aussie 78 Stepside
Cool build , wish they made a fiberglass lh drive dash like that , I like that heater unit too ,
|
Re: Aussie 78 Stepside
Any reason why you couldn't have mounted it vertically in the centre of the dash behind the ash tray, in the standard Aussie spot?
I'm about to replace my standard heater with a very similar universal one because mine is rusted out. |
Re: Aussie 78 Stepside
I could of mounted it there but the hose's would of been facing down though the bottom of the Floor, The AC Pipes would off been ok because I can get Fittings to turn them Up , but there wasn't much I could do with the Heater Hose's,.
