I've got a 49 F#rd 1 ton in the shop right now......but it's got an Olds 350 between the frame rails.....hehe.........btw, it's for sale.

Well considering the tranny is slamming when put in reverse "again", the rattle I hear at start up every morning waiting for oil pressure to get up, the warped front rotors "again", the dented and scrached body and bumpers, the grease and mud stained interior...I feel the $12,000 trade in value offered is generous offer as a trade-in value.

The sticker was $31,000, as it has every available option from the factory, and I mean every. It's a club cab, 8 foot bed 4X4, 360ci, leather, all power options, keyless entry/security package, towing/off road package, heated mirrors, contractor console, track-lock rear end, etc. I've added: custom front and rear bumpers, tinted windows, diamond plate toolbox, bed caps, lower truck trim panels, c/b radio, wind deflectors, tail-light trim, bed liner, rain-tred tires.

Oh well, maybe I'll take better care of the next one- NOT. I drive em hard, and put em up wet.:D

I make a lot of money working a truck hard, and I like to play hard with it too. Come to mention work, it will be loaded, (as well as a 16 foot trailer) to the hilt in the morning again with material to take to a job I hope will be finished by the end of the week.

My next truck won't have all the bells and whistels as this one. I bought it while a home improvement sales-man, now I own a home improvement company and an auto repair shop, and I go to business college.

Never owned a Ford truck. I do have a Chevy powered Ford Model A though. :D

I have had 2 Fords in the past. I had an 86 Ranger and an 88 F-150. Both were great trucks to drive, the only problem I had was the entire ignition system going on both of them. Other than that, I can't complain about them. And my future goal is to own a 48 Ford F-1 pickup. Old Fords kick ass :D

Well, I guess this is my chance to "come clean." As you may guess from my user name, I have a real problem. The first vehicle I ever owned was a '53 F-100 with a 327 and powerglide in it. I loved that truck and had lots of good times in it.
Fast forward 20 years-I am now building a '56 F-100 that has a Camaro clip, 350/350 with a GM disc brake rear. It is really a Camaro with fat fenders! I am looking at a 454 crate motor instead of the 350, which would then be "handed down" to my '72 Cheyenne.

Every Ford that I have ever owned has had a Chevy motor. I just like the fat fenders!

I want a Chevy powered Ford and have a decal across the rear windshield that says "BUILT FORD TOUGH WITH CHEVY STUFF" :D

My first truck, back in high school was a 78 #ord f-150, that was a factory Indy Pace Truck. Wish I could find another.

I saw a Chevy powered Ford at a show last summer that had some nice airbrush work on the underside of the hood that said "Built Ford Tough with Genuine GM stuff!" The lettering copied the Ford "steel look" and the blue and white GM logo. It was too cool!:cool:

I want an old For din the worst way, but I have a couple projects in front of me first. I have to finish the 72, then do a truck for the wifey before it gets back to me :D

4"lift 35"bfg Mudders, 395 horse 400, c6,np205,9" Rear, it was my first truck,these were made back when "Built Ford Tough " actually meant something.

Theres just something about the styling of the late 70's Ford Trucks, they grab your attention just like the 67-72 chevys.

I think I have owned every brand of anything made on the planet. Most have good and bad models. Yes I think my GMC/Chevy trucks are tops. But I have had F@rds that were great to me...as well as other brnads...I think the worse peice of garbage I ever hand were my 76 & 77 Monte Carlo. One SS and one V6 model. Owning those two almost turned me away from chevy for ever. I never saw such poor quality of assembly and design of anything. I know a lot of you like them...but we all have our experiences.

I can't say I wouldn't ever not own one brand or the other. Since I buy mostly used nowdays again, you buy the best for the buck....sometimes it isn't always the brand you wanted.

I'll admit it too, my daily driver is a 86 Grand Marquis LS (I like to think the LS stands for LOADA ****) but when i was 16 I couldn't resist the offer of a $1 car. It's been a fun car, check out my signature, you'll see why, plus It has a HUGE BACK SEAT;)
But the the only F**d I'll ever own will be a 1960's Shelby Mustang, Can you blame me for that?

My Chevys far out number my Fords. But I do love the 69 Galaxie XL I have. 390CU IN of "by the seat of your pants" torque. Awesome ride and something you just don't see many of.

I sold my '72 K5 to buy a Mustang GT convertable when the new body was released in '94. It was a fun car but it spent a ton of time in the shop (32 days the first year). I sold it after two years and swore I'd never buy another Ford. Since then, we did buy a Focus Wagon for my wife.

I also drove a '72 Ranger in high school that was my parents. I stopped driving it when I bought my '70 Challenger R/T. It was a nice truck though.

I have had a number of Fords. My first 3 vehicles were Fords. They were:

1. a Red 1964 Anglia (English Ford - see the ads for the new Harry Potter movie if you don't know what they look like)

2. a Red 1965 Mustang - not a hotrod - a 6 cylinder with a 3 speed manual but I wish I still had it - sold it in 1970 for $700

3. a Red 1968 Cougar - 289 2bbl and an automatic - remember sequential tail signal lights? I sort of wish I still had it too but not as much as the Mustang

We have also had:

1. a White 1977 Mercury Monarch 2 Dr - lousy handling but a solid car that lasted well.

2. a Black 1986 Taurus - rode nice, ran well, got good mileage and lasted 10 years - not bad

3. a Red (not bright red - you know the colour) 1997 Mercury Sable that was junk from day one - lots of electrical problems -

Current daily drivers are both Toyotas - a Blue 1995 4Runner and a Gold 1998 Avalon - good vehicles - we like them

Also have a Burgundy 1988 Honda Accord that my elder son drives - a good little car and fun to drive

and last but not least a Rust coloured (perfect colour for an old Ford!) 1980 Ford LTD that I got cheap and poured a pile of money into for my elder son - he hated it - hence the Honda -

Now I think about finding a better or more desirable body whether it be car or truck to put the expensive motor into - a completely rebuilt 302 - hot tanked the block, had it bored and honed, replaced the crank and the mains, had the big end of the rods resized and new pistons pressed on, replaced the cam bearings and put in an Edelbrock cam and lifters set, an Edelbrock double roller timing chain, a high volume oil pump, had the heads done - new valve guides and valve grind, a new Edelbrock aluminum intake, a new Edelbrock 4bbl - also had the FMX trans rebuilt.

Now it all sits in the LTD body that no body wants with about 1000 miles on it and I can't sell it for anywhere near what I have invested - thus the desire to find something more interesting to put it in - getting hard to find older Fords that are not rusted away - wouldn't mind an F150 4X4 or something smaller but not really a fan of the Mustangs of the late 70's or early 80's

Lessons are sometimes learned hard - I should have put the money in the Chevy pickup - Right?:bowtie:
