JRanger you should really take the time to get those body mount nuts out. Then when your buddy welds everything together he can weld something new in there. If you every have to change that body mount you will have to cut your new floor up and work down in a the hole that you made. As hard as it seems now it will be worth it down the road.
Also don't forget to put the support plate back on top of the supports. It holds the supports together instead of just relying on your new floor pan to do it. You can make one easy.
Here are the steps I used.
All blasted up

Painted with rust-shield

New plate made ready to spot weld in

Then a floor patch cut to fit the hole in the floor

The more you do the more you're going to keep finding... I need all the same thing you need. Floor pan, cab corners, rocker (in and out) cab support, floor support... the list never ends...

The last 2 weekends ive been working my butt off on these rockers...

Today I finished the passenger side rocker and fitting the floor pan as well...I have to wait on a new floor panel for the dirver side as i cut a way a little too much but other then that im almost ready for welding....So hopefully in the next couple weeks that will be done

Driver Side is ready to be welded. FIxed all the little holes today, made sure everything was fitted right, and covered bare metal with Weld-Thru Primer

If your referring to the top pic Yes...but in the 2nd pic you see only a black line where I put a piece in there...BUt is your referring to the black spot in the lower right of the second pic its just missing the door rubber right there

I am so glad that my northeast truck has somehow survived with minor cab corner rust thru. It still has some of the original frame paint on it!

I didn't see any squarebodys when I was in Oceanside last July. I guess they're around and I just didn't notice any.

If your talking about the floor panel I ordered it directly from Tabco for $50 shipped...You can also order them from JCwhitley but sometimes they are out of stock.... They are awesome panels!

Re: Started Repairing Floor Pans + Some

haha, yeah it would of been easier if it wasn't for the rocker panels too...Im not exactly doing a great job but for a first time not bad. Im actually taking the truck to have it all welded in this weekend..Just be careful when cutting beyond the cab frame on the drivers side...I caught the speedo cable a little and ripped some of the rubber off...They are easy to replace but better if you didn't have to lol

Cleaned up the welds on the rockers and stripped the pans down and painted with Krylon Rust Tough, ran seam sealer along the sides, and underneath the truck. Then sprayed some 3m rubberized undercoating as well

wow thats ambitious, I didnt think Southern Trucks rotted like ours do up here... I try to look for southwestern or western trucks... RUST REPAIR SUCKS but yours was cake compared to some i had to do on the K5 check out the link
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...amin+greenjust a suugestion (unless its done already) I would look into replacing the inner rocker its basically afloor extension / drop like the dog leg in a GM car off the trucnk floor pan and connects to the rocker... again see the build for my 74 K5
To me if im taking out that much metal I try to replace as much as I can...
lits looking good man...keep it up... nice to see another early (70's) BOX saved from the crusher

Re: Started Repairing Floor Pans + Some

JRANGER 01-31-2012 09:43 AM

Re: Started Repairing Floor Pans + Some

haha, I hear ya and Well the floor panel I order had part of the inner rockers on it and I also had pieces I put in the back side...Its not perfect and not all welded along the inside of the rockers but its in place for now...

Tell me about your headlights, they look interesting... Perhaps something I need for the C50.

I bought H4 Conversions off of Amazon....I had to adjust the headlight brackets and its recommended you update the harness to a relay harness for better brightness...They also have Halos in them but I dont have them attached!

Here is a thread with a few pics
