Re: 496 to be DYNO'D!
Here's the situation... Mark Jones' dyno is broken. Somethin about a servo or whatever.. It is currently being rebuilt, and should be ready for action either tomorrow or early next week. Here's hoping for big numbers!!!! I have a "guestimation" for hp, and so far a couple if guesses are within 15-20 of what I am hoping for! No matter what the final number is, it's going to be a monster compared to my backyard 383!!!

Re: 496 to be DYNO'D!
I'm guessing in at 670hp/655tq, oh ya I'm right, oops to early.

Re: 496 to be DYNO'D!
All I know is having a 460 in my 71 4x4 is way more fun than the 330hp 5.7 ever was, just cooks the 35" tires like crazy in 4whigh. Smiling all day when I drive the beast and it's only 525hp.

Re: 496 to be DYNO'D!

Re: 496 to be DYNO'D!
Interested in seeing what it makes. Did he give you flow numbers on the ported heads? I used stock flow numbers.

Re: 496 to be DYNO'D!
Sorry. I have not requested that info yet... If you are familier with his work, you know he get's everything he can out of every head!
|
Re: 496 to be DYNO'D!
well being that I have nearly the same goodies on mine as yours does (I have eldelbrock heads instead) but same c.r. , manifold, carb, but slight milder cam then I've got...
so I will guess a solid 615hp if you got roller rockers... if not I'll say 599hp |
Re: 496 to be DYNO'D!
oh yea, by the way, I am hovering at 630 horse... so you have some kinda reference.

Re: 496 to be DYNO'D!
What does your combo make smoknbarrels? And where ya at in AB?!
|
Re: 496 to be DYNO'D!
I say 685. Similar combo made 665 with no work but "hybrid" cam.
That video also made me want a 496 lol Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: 496 to be DYNO'D!
Final answer? Are you gonna lock in that answer?!!! Lol! I hope his dyno is fixed tomorrow!! As soon as I get the results, they WILL be posted!!!

Re: 496 to be DYNO'D!
I'm guessing about 625hp. My 496 in my boat is 10.5-1. Ported afr 315's. Bigger hydraulic roller cam than yours and a victor jr with an 850 Holley made 661hp/615tq.
