Re: BIG changes coming my way!!
looks like you're making real good progress on the garage, that's going to be a nice place with all the improvements that got planned.

Its been awhile but I have been working alot on the garage. Its funny how slow things seem to go once the framing is done. The roof is done. I finally have the thing completely wrapped in house wrap. I got the second window in the attic it. To make the trusses more rigid, I put several 16ft 2x4's at a diagonal in the webbing, it really made things much more solid and took all of the wobble out of the upstairs.... I have all of the wiring ruffed in. My dad is coming by this weekend to terminate all of the circuits in the breaker box. I have put in a 100 amp box but I am going to run 70 amps from the house to cover everything. I finished the insulation in the ceiling, I put R19 bats in. I have all but one wall insulated as well with R13. I also picked up the attic ladder.
More rock is being delivered tomorrow for the drive way. I plan in finishing the insulation tomorrow too and I will be renting a sheetrock lift and putting the OSB on the ceiling. I hope to have the OSB on the walls by sunday, The Garage Door company will be installing Doors Monday. I will be painting the OSB white to brighten things up. I saw on another thread here where a guy painted his garage white with grey on the bottom and a red stripe dividing two colors (bcubed). Hope he doesn't mind that I do the same. |

Got the rock for the drive. Finished the last wall of insulation and got most of the OSB on the ceiling done. I also managed to step backwards into my cordless drill standing upright with a spade bit in it into my left achilles tendon. Hurt like $#!% and I have a feeling tomorrow is going to suck.

Finished the OSB on the ceiling and got the inside of the garage door openings ready for doors. Picked up theh OSB for the walls and picked up some $8 per gallon primer for the walls. I can't believe how much some of the paints out there cost. Hopefully I'll be happy with cheaper stuff, i mean it is only a garage, I mean MAN CAVE!!

Got the Ceiling primed and painted semi-gloss last night and today. I haven't put the OSB on the walls yet because I've been spending my time getting ready for the garage doors. I can do the walls after doors are done.

Because the garage doors are coming off of the house tomorrow morning I had to move the camaro and K5. I guess thats the last time they will see the inside of the future living room. I have promised myself that I'm not going to put anything in the new garage untill the inside is completely done, so the blazer and camaro will have to stay temporarily under the carport for a week or two. I also gave the camaro a brief look into its new home!

I am trying to be as GREEN as possible, or cheap I guess but I am using the old trim off of the house for the garage doors. they are the PVC plastic trim that cost me $250 to put up the first time. So I didn't want to buy that again. I'm disappointed in the material because it faded really badly. It is only 6 yrs. old, it matched the doors perfectly when installed and is a completely different color now. The plan is to wash it really good and I picked up some plastic primer and paint to make it its original color. When the doors are removed tomorrow I will frame in the openings with tem;porary walls until we start the addition on the house.

The doors are off the house and on the new garage! For some reason I thought they were going to be here monday but I was wrong, I had scheduled them for today. Once the guy took the doors off the house, I framed up the holes and insulated. The doors look great in their new location.

Its been awhile since last update, my wife and I took a trip to Phoenix, AZ for a 10 day vacation. Had a great time and got to meet a couple of board members. It was nice meeting you Toby and Billy. You both have awesome projects and good luck with them.

Finished up the painting today and picked up all the trim for windows, baseboard and crown. I had a little gap on the top of one wall so I picked up some 1x2's for a cheap crown molding to cover it up. I am going to paint all of the trim the same grey that is on the bottom of the walls. I have picked up a few license plates to start the divider between the two wall colors.
