Painted the bed, all the block sanding made it pretty straight.

We got the taillights and blinkers working, going from 1998 wiring to 1968 not as complicated as I thought. Had one light on the back that was more dim than the other and it was simply new paint in the way of the ground. Scraped it away and it work like it was supposed to.

So the gas tank out of a 98 S10 blazer fits. I see you had to cut the frame and I like it. I might look into that. Nice truck. gdavis 68swb steep Florida

This is for anyone who thought about cutting their tailgate in two pieces to beat out the dents.

Had a quick question for ya. Are you running the stock truck manifolds it looks like it from your picture. I just put my 5.7 in from a 2000 van and the manifolds would not come close to fitting. Thanks

Yes it is all stock from the 98 truck, we put the motor, transmission, rear end, and wiring from the 98 into the 68.

Plexi-glass on the instrument cluster and lights. It is a glove box door and a 98 cluster behind the hole cut out in the glove box door. The back side of the plexi-glass is painted black except where the gauges are, turned out well.

Put red door panels and sunvisors in my truck, now need to have the seat recovered. I am thinking a black seat with red trim. Also put on a rearview mirror, it was driving me crazy without one.

I would do black seat with rd inserts or with red seat with black inserts, that is my idea.

hey can i ask where did you get those side amrker lights?

JohnT71 06-27-2013 05:29 PM

Re: My 68 Chevy journey

Side marker lights came out of a 80's model van at the pickapart. The 98 truck wiring had the spot for lights so we just wired them in. Pretty cool they are just supposed to be reflectors in 68 i believe.
