What are you referring to when u say restoring bucks, consoles and tach's?

Thanks, that's a good idea. I hope to get to the point where I can be building one to sell that I build it the way I want and one or more for a customer at the same time...all while still restoring and selling buckets/consoles/tachs and other parts to supplement between the project payments.

I restore tach dashes for these trucks and sell them here and locally. Also will be putting a restored tach with air pressure in this truck.

The bucket seats and consoles are a fairly rare factory option in trucks. Many blazers had them but often they also had the simpler utility buckets with no console. So I take the old sets and restore or replace the foam and blast and paint the brackets and blast and paint the center consoles.

Attached some example pictures... :chevy:

Good luck on the new venture! Hot rod did a story on owning your own shop a while back that was good info, may be on their website. Truck looks like a good start.

Thanks, feel free to come on by whenever you want. Just pm me for an address....I'm right off 288...guessing you'd come down 64 to 288? Truck is at the body shop right now and might stay there for a bit....was going to do the frame first but might go ahead and get all of the body work and panel gaps right then blow it apart to do the frame....

Considering to put together another swb frame I have as a roller and transfer the body onto that. Then I can build the actual frame, get it all wired up and the motor mounted/exhaust ran, etc. and then transfer the body over after paint. Still up in the air but I'm thinking that will work best for me...and I'll have the swb frame as a roller already to either sell or use on my next project this way...

Thanks....found it...I'll read over it a few times. ;) Going about this different than most though....starting working from home and always plan to although I'll have a big shop separate from the house eventually...

Also not going to completely give up the cabinetry work until I have a steady stream of income from the truck business...

Congrats man!

:haha: I draw the line at Gold :haha: Nah...I love it with certain colors like on Mitch Henderson's truck... ;)

I will always go with what my customer wants, but like on this build I am giving as much input as they want on all aspects of the build.

It depends on the options. I have a couple on the parts board now but haven't bumped them up much...

Can you add that air pressure gauge to any cluster?

Air pressure gauges and lenses aren't reproduced so you can't just add them...but I buy up all the good ones I can find so I do have some more :chevy:

I really appreciate all the well wishes and interest in my parts! For the future I ask everyone try to find one of my for sale posts about tachs or buckets (whichever one you're looking for) and ask these questions in there for the future so this thread won't be locked down from turning into a wtb/fs thread. Thanks! :chevy:

It's been something I've been thinking/dreaming about for years as I'm sure many of us do. I have been blessed to do well with the parts so far and made good profit on the blazer I finished restoring a few years ago...

It's no guarantee I'll be profitable and the same economy that's hurting the remodeling business is of course affecting the truck business. Still, I feel it's worth the risk at this point in my life because of what many have told me including customers, family, and friends

I can't believe I am just seeing this! Good for you man! You and I have some similar thoughts. I am in the process of getting a side business off the ground. I'm not getting into restoration, but providing parts solutions. I don't want to jack your thread, hit me up if you want to talk about it. I wish you all the best maybe we will collaborate at some point!
