The more I read about the 5.3, the more I think you guys may be on to something.

Cheby-I'm up in the High Desert, but I work in Fontana. I'd love to check out your ride one of these days to see how all that 5.3 stuff works out in a square.

I currently own a 6.2 diesel powered 87 R10 and and a 5.3 powered 99 2500. The 5.3 is awesome but isn't going to knock down the mileage of the 4.3.
I would not recommend the 6.2. Instead of plugs you get to put in injectors and a pump every 100K or so. Fuel filters every 25K (I regularly get 100K out of my gasser filters, careful fuel selection is my secret). The 6.2 diesel is basically equivalent to a 305 in power, gets 20+mpg, but here diesel costs more than gas so the costs about even out. Lots more places to buy gas and lot easier to deal with water in fuel. Unless you're a hard core diesel man they're not worth the effort.
Maybe a 4.8? There are quite a few of them and it's the same swap as a 5.3.

If you drive like me (drive it like you stole it) you will get worse fuel mileage with the 4.3.

Sounds good we can make it happen sometime I do swaps full time on the side so when it comes time if you need any help of anything I have the part numbers for fuel pump and tank to keep it all factory parts you can run cruise control.I have mine setup using a factory check engine lite in the dash and all
