Wow , I have never heard of such a thing. I would love to see that. Guess I'm going to be doing some googling this morning.

Tell that to your bodyman/painter as he tries to hang that chineese fender...then wait for the bill from him. GM parts fit, period.

Another thing, as far as body panels. Usually a lot of the repro parts will be made of a lighter gauge high strength steel. For example, I have some 67 Camaro doors that have been re-skinned, and the original skins. There is a noticeable difference in the thickness. Think its 18 and 22.

When the car is back on the road, visually people wont know, but I'm the type of person, that knowing my door skins are about paper thin junk, bugs me. Have done some correct restorations, and love NOS parts.

A lot of times, if you look hard, and wait, you can find NOS for cheaper. But I have also been the guy on the other end before, who needed that part, was done searching, and splurged.

As far as these being just "trucks", I cant remember a time where there wasn't a square in the driveway, growing up. Mine means a whole lot more to me, than anyone would pay. If I had deep enough pockets, I'd find NOS trim, body panels, and not bat an eye at the price.

It was just an example. There aren't many reproduction parts on the market that can compete with the quality and fit of genuine GM parts.

Re: price of NOS parts

I had an old truck that was used for plowing. I ended up cutting the fenders for one reason or another. Probably to clear tires. I never painted the cut end and it went almost 2 years before frosting over with rust and it went for years like that never getting worse. Also had a jap hood that was bought new. Finished correctly as I didn't want it to rust and with 5 years I had a rot hole in the front on the lip. Just something about that factory metal.

Re: price of NOS parts

If I can't find new stuff I'll buy nice solid sheet metal that's original GM.

I understand....but we are talking $1000 for a used scratched (read listing) tailgate band......or NOS cab trim....its not worth $1000 and you know it

heres some new GM OEM fenders, offer him $5000.....if a used tailgate band is worth $1000 this is a no brainer

Anything is worth what the other person is willing to pay. Didnt you state that they ended the trims at 750? Did someone actually buy them?

I agree with you on the redicked prices that people are paying or asking for these parts, but to each is its own when it comes to spending their own money to do what ever they are with these parts.

I have bought many NOS parts and have many sitting on shelfs in the garage. I like GM pieces and will pay more for them if I need them. Your blanket statement will anger some here so I do not understand why you have made that same comment two different times here lately. These pieces will probably show up on some very nice trucks. I am glad that there are individuals that are restoring these trucks with the correct trim and sheet metal. You can definitely tell one that's restored right when it's parked next to a truck that has aftermarket sheet metal and trim. The exterior trim and interior pieces do not compare in fit or finish to the real stuff. The good thing about some of this high priced stuff that's showing up on Ebay is that if you don't like the price, you don't have to buy it but that's no reason to insult those that do.

Stated like a true gentleman. I feel that if I had deep enough pockets I would justify myself to buy said parts but that was after I done some shopping around.

I agree that most are too much money and I wouldn't pay for that much. But I would pay more for factory stuff. Who knows if I had the money and that was the piece I needed... That's what makes the world go round

Wow! $1300 for cab trim mouldings. Beautiful set, but a little steep for my pockets.

Wow! If he gets that kind of money out of the cab trim then I need to post my two GM doors and two GM fenders that I still have in the box. I have had them for about 15 years or so and never touched them. I am sure they would bring a premium if he gets that kind of money out of his trim.

Pfft! I got a few sets of cab corners up on there right now starting at $20. Maybe I should bump the price a bit.

this actually makes you think about selling some stuff, ive got a new in box gm 81-87 gmc tailgate molding, but if you sell it, you wont be getting it back unless you want to pay that ridiculous amount.

Re: price of NOS parts

It's nice to see some NOS stuff pop up for these trucks but I just can't justify spending that kind of dough on a truck that might be worth $6-$10k when it's done (MAYBE), where there are still a ton of very nice original unrestored examples out there that can be had for much less money that that.

I mean common, it's a pickup truck, not a 6 figure muscle car
