Re: cpp drop spindles for sale or trade
Maybe I'm wrong but according to the part number in the pic it shows that these are for 73-87. May have better luck listing them over there.

Re: cpp drop spindles for sale or trade
You are not wrong.
Great catch. Those are 73-87 spindles. So what the heck is going on here? Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: cpp drop spindles for sale or trade
SBC,... What exactly did you order?
I thought you told me you had 71-72 steering parts. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: cpp drop spindles for sale or trade
I'm glad I caught it as well. I was about to make an offer

Re: cpp drop spindles for sale or trade
Wow. Thanks Shawno. I didn't even catch that. Guess I should have checked the part number back in March when I ordered them. I need 71/72 spindles.
Can a mod edit title and move it or do I create a new thread Posted via Mobile Device |

What balljoints do you have now,... or that you will be using? You might be able to use these spindles after all. |
Re: cpp drop spindles for sale or trade
This may be an "easier" fix than before.
I'll wait for your reply to the above question.^^^ |
Re: cpp drop spindles for sale or trade
I'll have to double check everything when I get home. Had one bolted on and the tie rod was too big for the hole on the spindle

Re: cpp drop spindles for sale or trade
So the CPP box has part number CP4S3 which is 71/72. Inside that box were these CP4S4.
They fit around the ball joints but not the tie rods? I didn't get a chance to look but I'm thinking that means I have 73-87 ball joints. I'm not 100% sure on the tie rods now but they are too big for the hole on the CP4S4 spindle. Now I am just more confused and lost! Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: cpp drop spindles for sale or trade
First have you tried contacting CPP and see if they will exchange them since they were missboxed? CPPJeff is a member on here I would contact him and see if he can resolve this, I'm willing to bet he can.

Re: cpp drop spindles for sale or trade
Ordered them through summit. It has been way pass the 90day period and they are painted so I don't think they will. Worth a try though

Re: cpp drop spindles for sale or trade
71-72 and 73-87 have the same lower balljoint.
All you need to do is buy a set of 73-87 upper balljoints and 73-87 outer tie rods and you are good to go,... as long as you definitely have a 71-72 (or 73-87) center link, inner tie rods, and tie rod connectors. |
Re: cpp drop spindles for sale or trade
Ok, I have my original 67 centerlink and inner tie rods. They are connected by the POL adjusting sleeve and larger outer tie rods. The 67 tie rods fit in the spindle arm. I'm thinking if I use 67 outreach with 67 adjusting sleeve these spindles will work?

Re: cpp drop spindles for sale or trade
What happened to 71-72 steering?
If your 67 tie rod fits those spindles,... they were obviously drilled wrong by CPP according to the part # cast into them. Good luck with your quest. I really don't know what is going on now. |
Re: cpp drop spindles for sale or trade
The only thing I can think of is that they were drilled wrong. I bought 73-87 outer tie rods today and they did not fit into the spindle arm which is stamped CP4S4
