Looks like theres gonna be a change of plans, I scored a 68 SWB step side frame and bed for 400 bucks, so once I get it here I will be swapping over my cab front cap and engine. Lots of extra work but I think I will like the end result much better.

Sold the long bed and looking forward to pulling the engine and trans again..

Meanwhile while I was working this deal I cleaned up and painted a couple of my steel wheels that will be going on the front.

Heres a pic of my not so major progress......

You will be happier with the shorty stepside. The stell wheels look great. Is that the color u r using.

Another update, the guy just called back with the step side, I am getting the complete truck minus engine and trans for 400 bucks. The cab is shot but I will have lots of extra parts to work with.

As for the bed, the metal is in pretty good shape, not much rust. The tailgate is missing and the wood is missing along with some of the cross members. All in all its just a good foundation to start with. I will post some better pics this weekend when I began demo.

Nice score, stepside beds are damned expensive in good shape so I would say the bed alone is worth $400 forgetting about the rest of the truck, the frame is a bonus  welcome to the stepside club.

Some pics of recent progress over the past week....
the tear down has begun
http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/...pscbc71299.jpg
Since I really had no help I decided to just cut up the rusty cab where I could remove it in pieces which made it possible to get the cab gone.
http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/...pse8dfe4bb.jpg
Now Im down to the frame, gonna clean it up. paint and use new cab mount hardware.
http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/...ps020630a7.jpg
Cant call it a truck without a bed so I made a temporary bed.
http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6945523b.jpg
Also couldn't stand looking at the yellow anymore so I started on some primer. The pics a bit dark due to rain and dim lighting. http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/...ps090c6f98.jpg
