It's all about what sound you like. Flowmasters do flow less than other brands. I'll never claim differently. However, magnaflows flow about 30 CFM more, and make a whopping 3 more hp and 1 ft lbs of torque than a 2 chamber flowmaster. Both measure out at roughly the same decibel level throughout the power band. For comparison, a Hooker Max Flow flows 270 CFM more than a flowmaster and makes 4 more hp and 2 ft lbs of torque.

This means on your average DD the flow really doesn't make a d@mn bit of difference. It comes down to what sound you want to hear when you turn that key. Oh, and definitely go stainless.

im tryin to make this truck into a nice cruiser. im just lookin for sound not power so much yet...my 350 is getting tired and im getting it ready for a 5.3 swap later on. I just like how they sound period. its my preference. your truck helped me make my decision...I love how it sounds lol...

I drive mine from SJ to Philly and back around twice a week along with other small trips. It makes itself known, but I don't think it's obnoxious for a truck with no cats. The best thing I did was make it exit out the rear. The fact that the pipe exits so far behind me (8 ft. bed haha) makes it great for driving long distances. I get a bit of drone, but that's because of the NP435 and 4.11 gears, being terrible for highway driving. I think having it exit before the rear tires would make it a bit louder but still bearable. I grin every time I drive it.

I put an 18" single in/dual out Magnaflow on my daughters truck, no cat. It had a really great deep sound. I can't do flows again. This is just me, but they don't sound good to me anymore at all except on a lopey engine at idle. The chambered muffler makes the cam sound bigger and "lope" really well. I'd rather have a better overall sound than the best sound at idle.

Magnaflows are all right, but around here everybody and their mother has them; had to do something different.

That's what it's been like here in the SE with trucks and flows for the last 15 years. I completely understand gettting fed up with a particular sound.;)

just around where I live...everyone has glasspacks, magnaflows or straight-pipes....I just want something different too. my bro in law has a 87 r10 with straight pipes and I get a headache riding in that thing.

If I had to do it again I would go with Hookers just to try something I haven't before. Heard good things about them and spintechs. Hookers max flows are cheap too

i read through this before i did mine. ended up with 2.5" summit welded mufflers (flowtech afterburners in a white box). sounds like a turbo mufler just a little more noise then some, decent flow and inexpencive. i did it mysel headers back for well under 200 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=263014

if you plan on doing a swap...id say f it and just wait and do it right the first time...save your money like alot of the guys are saying...if you plan on sticking with a small block 350 get it done right man, i did the weld job on the first set of exaust i put on my truck and wish i would have done it right the first time

Sweet!!!! I almost went with the 40's series on my truck but everyone here in the Houston area has that so I wanted to be different so I went true dual 10's with headers, I feel like a little kid everytime that monster cranks up! I could sit and listen to it idle all day if it was possible.

Isn't that the kit that exits before the rear wheels though? I want duals too, but I want then to exit out the side behind the wheels.
