updates...oldsmobile 5.7 diesel engine out...chevy 350 in...finally it has a working engine..can drive but i have no brakes for some strange reason...hoping to have that fixed asap

removed the tray today and started to clean the chassis....a new tray will be built locally...still need to look for a cabin as mine is in terrible shape:mad:

Nice to see u making progress finally. Depending on how long the truck was parked up for the rear wheel cylinders probably gone now and probably check the master cylinder and booster too. Did u find out how much it would cost to import a cab from USA?

I have a good cab like that but I don't have any idea how u would get it to whatever island you are on.

it does not have a booster...has some strange braking system... been parked up for atleast 2 years....im going to sart with the lines...

As for shipping, once I can get the cab to Miami...its easy to ship to Trinidad!

You do have a booster on that truck - but it's not a vacuum booster like you're probably used to seeing. Your truck was a diesel from the factory, which makes no vacuum to supply to the conventional vacuum booster. It has what GM calls Hydroboost, you can see the Hydroboost unit behind your master cylinder. Instead of vacuum assist, you have hydraulic assist power brakes - the hydroboost is driven off the power steering pump.

Now that you've swapped in a gas engine in place of the diesel, you may want to also swap in a conventional master cylinder and vacuum booster, just to simplify things for yourself.

cool! like seeing the foreign stuff. or foreign builds i mean. that body style stuff is dime a dozen everywhere around here. you shouldnt have a problem finding decent parts.

id restore it too being its the only other on the iland lol

Thanks...but the problem is parts...everything has to be shipped/imported form the usa....Trinidad is little tokyo :hm:
