This is my latest truck and my first 73-87. Bought it a few days ago and spent most of the day today acquiring parts and starting to take care of a few issues it has like leaks and minor broken this or that. Nothing wrong that keeps it from driving

My new '78 K20, 350/400 Camper special, just got a brand new set of 235/85/16 Bfgs, and come Monday is my Daily Driver! Far from perfect, but a trusty DD, only needs typical maintenance.

Here is my 77 K/20 Silverado Camper Special
My Grandpa bought this brand new in 76, and it only has 42K miles on it. After he passed away last year It became mine. After I finish my 69 Project I hope to restore it to its former glory. http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps3y8z8drz.jpg http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...psu2jjztod.jpg http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps910e1b0d.jpg |
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
This is mine:
1987 Custom Deluxe R-10. Fuel injected 305, 700R4, 2x4, 2.76 open rear end. My father bought it in 1996. He then killed it twice. I've resurrected it twice. After the second time (Killed the fuel pump after running out of gas), he gave up on the truck. I got it, and have made it my "pride and joy". Alright, not that much pride, but there's a lot of joy! http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...ps09f99830.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7dc40ecd.jpg It's mostly a stock truck. The last owner (Pre-1996) did a really poor job of maintaining her. It was 50 different shades of gray, and the grille was half spray-painted. I painted the grill flat black, and left his silver bowtie the way it was. I really like the look of the black grille. |

I dunno if I posted it in the part I thread, but here's my 1984 C-20 Custom Deluxe. Original 305 V-8 with an SM465 4-speed. Eventually will have a 350 out of a 1972 C-10.
This is what it looked like a year ago, when my grandpa gifted it to me. Now, it's taken apart, parked behind the shed, waiting for when I have free time to get it cleaned up, running, and back together. You know how it goes, too many hobbies, not enough time and money! Pains me to see it sitting, and not having time to work on it... |
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
84 C20 is a nice project, also cool looking scout back by the garage, had a 63 Scout 4wd with sliding 2 piece side windows, was a cool little truck.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Oh yeah you saw that Scout? My dad and I built that. Bought three parts Scouts and made one good one. It's a combination of 1964 and 65. Slant 4, 3 speed, PTO winch on the front. We sold it earlier this year to a couple in Eastern Washington. Had our fun with it, onto the next project...

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
Just picked up my first Chevy truck of this vintage - 1984 K20 5.7 w/ a 350 crate motor. 4 spd manual (1-3 plus L - that's the 4 speed I assume...)
Trailered it home and have started to make my initial diagnoses. At the moment, my priority is to get it drivable so I can use the truck this winter. It runs strong, although it has an oil leak and needs a choke adjustment. It will need a compete brake job (it had no brakes, so in attempting to bleed the system I found the bleeder bolts completely rusted and not serviceable). So that's my first project. Along with changing all the fluids. Here's a pic from the trip home: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-i...0/IMG_1672.JPG |

Here's mine. '74 C20 with dually conversion, mild 383. I do a little of everything with it, towing, drag racing, tractor pulls, and some dune-running.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Long Beds Part II
I can see drag racing and towing but must be a beast being so heavy in the dunes, looks like a lot of tire though, guess once you get it moving...don't slow down right.:cf:

Yeah, it was a challenge in the real soft stuff. Even with the large tires it makes so much low end torque that it just wants to spin. But damn is it fun. It weighs 4,985lbs with both tanks full of fuel.

Here's my '77 Chebby, standard bed, stepside, 350/th350.
Hope you like it. Got it reasonable, replaced a cracked head with some rebuilt ones from Craigslist. Paid $1k for the broken truck and a hundy for the rebuilt heads that were sitting in someone's garage for a couple of years. I hope you like it. Greg |
