For about 9 yrs in a row, one of the car clubs I'm in, helps out at the "Trunk or Treat" program thru the hospital and local businesses. We always have about 3,000 kids come thru the event. It's at out local Civic Center, here's a few shots. Our group and then more of the event...Jim

Glued on new weather stripping on my 55first... Want to talk about what a pain that is.. Also, FYI anyone else that's getting ready to do it might want to get two tubes of the adhesive.. one wasn't enough for me.
Then took the old beast put for a drive .. |
Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2
Actually, this was Friday morning.
My drive 10-miles to the Eagleville (MO) Locker at under 30-degrees, was my coldest drive in the hot rod. The heater worked pretty well considering being parked outside all night. I was picking up half of a nice black angus we bought from a neighbor. The butchers tell me I caused a work stoppage as I circled the town square for my approach.:mm: https://scontent-a-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/...f4&oe=54D75B84 |

Testing...Nothing to my truck today, but upgraded my notebook computer and trying to get everything back working like it used to. Found this old pic from 1972.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2
I had a 47 Ford pu, not nearly as nice, paid $40 for it in 1969. Flat head used a quart of oil every 20 miles, luckily I worked at a gas station part time and had access to lots of used oil. Had dual stacks coming up thru the bed, looked like the Queen Mary at flank speed. Had to park on hills so it could build up enough compression to start. Broke an axle showing off on gravel and sold it to a dirt track guy that wanted the tranny and open drive line for $50.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2
I paid $165 for this one. It wasn't nearly as nice when I got it but it did have a good running 50 Mercury flathead engine. I replaced it with a SBC and automatic, but if I had it now the flathead would stay. The front clip in the pic is all NOS that I found locally but never found a new tailgate. Nothing for this truck was re-produced back then.

It's Ash. Wanted quartersawn white oak but when I got to the lumber yard they just didn't have the widths I needed. They did have a few 16" wide boards in the ash so went with those for now. I hate to be wasteful so I used almost a gallon of left over PPG clearcoat on them (top, sides and bottoms). It had been on the shelf from a project 5 years ago. Had to buy a can of hardener which was a little over $100 so would have been better off just buying a gallon of spar : ) We welded the bed to frame bolts to the cross members which allowed me to eliminate them being on top of the wood. |

It snowed last weekend, so yesterday I brushed the snow off with a soft broom.
My driving season is over 2-months earlier than usual. I don't drive after the highways get sprayed with salt-brine, until a good spring rain. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ps3036ac98.jpg |
