Re: Jans 53
Welcome from So Arizona!
That was a fast build!! All complete in one day, no suspense and no surprises, very good planning you will be happy with that combo, should last another 50 years. |
Re: Jans 53
Thanks for the welcome solidaxel. I bought the truck in 2006 and its been a slow process collecting parts. The last couple years I finally had time to work on it, today I ordered the driveline from Empire and will hopefully be installing next week.
Im curious what you think about your ZZ-4, I cant wait to drive mine, I have heard a lot of good things about it but dont personally know anyone who has one. Looks like you have 2 so Im thinking you must be happy with them. |
Re: Jans 53
Great build Jan! Looking forward to the next updates.

They were the greatest thing since slice bread........... but then I discovered the LS platform!! The ZZ 4 work at any RPM I can drive around in 5th gear at 30 MPH and it does not lug with the 3:73 rear gear, That engine is good at all speeds You will Love it With the 4L60E the computer tells the engine what gear to be in and that one works the best in the city where I do most of my driving. They both work great at freeway speeds and get fair gas mileage. Keep spending time and money on these old trucks and they will last for another 50 years !! |

Re: Jans 53
I have been side lined by knee replacement surgery twice this year, right one in May and left one in Aug. Hoping to get back at it this spring.
In the mean time I enjoy reading everyone's updates:metal: |
Re: Jans 53
What kind of headers are you using? They seem to hug the side of the block pretty tight. I'm putting one on an S10 too and picked up the S10 V8 conversion headers where the steering shaft goes through the headers. I'm not liking them much, to restricted on getting the column height and angle just right to get the shaft to pass through the headers.

Re: Jans 53
I believe they are 1996-2000 gm truck. I did have to cut the drivers side flange off and cut the rear two so that the rear of the header wouldn't hit the frame. I they are 2 3/4
