Re: Uber Cool's 1963 C10 LWB Fleetside in England
painted behind the grill and got one of my daughters to do some painting on the rear.

So from the outside it will look presentable compared to when it arrived. Next up the lowering stick is coming out, but just lower enough to avoid a C notch |

Progress and help ?
What paint did you use on the bumpers? |
Re: Uber Cool's 1963 C10 LWB Fleetside in England
Its Holts aluminium paint, but tin is about 20 years old, so it's back when they made real paint that covered in one coat:lol:

Re: Uber Cool's 1963 C10 LWB Fleetside in England
I'll weld the holes on the floor later, just wanted to protect what was still good metal. Then decided it sat way too high, so at the front end cut 2 coils off the springs and rear removed springs to fit air bags.
Now that's more like it http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/c...pskrbduwro.jpg http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/c...psioyl3vir.jpg |

Re: Uber Cool's 1963 C10 LWB Fleetside in England
Just found this thread also. A belated welcome and nice job! Your truck is really pretty solid for the year, and the red oxide looks killer on it. Just one quick question. Dynamo? I know bonnet, windscreen and boot, but that's a new one for me.
|
Re: Uber Cool's 1963 C10 LWB Fleetside in England
Nice progress! Also I believe dynamo would refer to a generator or alternator. If you have a choice, go for an internally regulated alternator, it will be much more dependable than either an externally regulated version, or a generator if that's what originally came on the truck.

Re: Uber Cool's 1963 C10 LWB Fleetside in England
Yep mark spot on generator. Another one would by wing or fender.

Re: Uber Cool's 1963 C10 LWB Fleetside in England

Re: Uber Cool's 1963 C10 LWB Fleetside in England
I need some turn signals for the rear, so been searching the round ones, but flat not the domed ones. Then came across these , they are side repeaters for MX5. I'll need to make an infill panel to suit the mx5 light, but think it will work well.

Re: Uber Cool's 1963 C10 LWB Fleetside in England
Good to speak to you today Andy.
Hope to meet you next weekend. Those indicators are a great idea. The essence of hot rodding. |
Re: Uber Cool's 1963 C10 LWB Fleetside in England
Great to talk to you the other day . Look forward to meeting you next Saturday . Rian said he will pop over to meet you as well . Those mx5 side repeaters will look good . Funny how we use other car parts to get over problems. I used an mx5 fan motor for my blower, as the original one in my truck had seized up . Here's a picture for you of the engine

Re: Uber Cool's 1963 C10 LWB Fleetside in England
Great photo, looks like you are both fighting over it. Rian "mine". Martin " No mine".
See you both soon |
Re: Uber Cool's 1963 C10 LWB Fleetside in England
Nice progress since checking in last...:mm:
|
Re: Uber Cool's 1963 C10 LWB Fleetside in England
Off on a 700 mile road trip tomorrow to pickup a C10 grill from Norfolk, then on to Kent to see Martin and Rian to collect a straight 6 engine and box. So that'll be about 10 hours driving if traffic is good, So it will probably be bad, so think I'm in for a long drive tomorrow.
But excited my truck will then have a face and make brum brum noises:metal: |
