It's been my experience that no matter what, for the kind of drop you are wanting, it will take a combo of springs and spindles to get you "safely" down to that 3"-4" drop in the front. A lot of guys cut springs with good results, but never more than a full coil (about an 1 1/2"-2" drop depending on how much sag your original spring has). Cut too much and you end up with a loose spring in the pocket.

Whatta you think about cutting my BrothersTrucks brand lowering springs instead of my factory ones? Even more chance of the spring being too short and coming loose?

Yall seen this? Seems legitimate enough. Might be a good reference for everyone thinking about cutting springs.

By far the best mod I did to my truck was converting to discs in the front. If you plan on driving this truck like you would any other vehicle, and cannot emphasize enough how much safer your truck will be and more confident you can be in it with dis conversion.

AND if you want to lower the front even 3”, IMO, the spring only drop is too much. On my truck with 2 1/2” spindles and 2” springs from ECE, I had no problems running stock length shocks. In the rear with the 7” drop, I drilled the more vertical hole in the upper shock mount for the mount and used a second set of front shocks.

My truck is not c-notched and I used the small urethane puck bump stops that came with the flip kit and while they do their job on occasion, I see no need for notching.
