Thanks, but I am going for originality. If I cannot have the proper lock, at least the door lock looks correct. Plus, I like the fact that the door key also operates the toolbox lock.

Yesterday, I went to a locksmith and asked if they could modify the lock cylinder so that it released the key after turning 90 degrees. They said no can do with the side bar lock.

I just got back to this toolbox this week. To answer your question, I do not really know what you mean for sure. But if you look at the photo in post 13 you will see how my hinges were mounted. It is on the outside face of the fiberglass box.
