Cool to see the era of these plates as I have quite a few I’ve picked up over the years. Most came from an estate sale where apparently the owner worked at a GM dealership as many are still in plastic. Here’s some of them.

I treated my ‘68 to a vintage one last week.

Very helpful, thanks. I still don't see one for the "Chevrolet building a better way". (first pic, center) That is a heavy steel plate with green backside.

I would call that 1974 and later by the color and design, same as their "Baseball, Hot dogs, and Apple pie" promotion.

Late ‘69-70’ Notice the font in the bow tie compared to the early ones. Also, 69’ is blue backed, 70’ is green backed.

These plates are going for some pretty good loot surprised me...

Nice! I should clarify. I’m curious when the Stars and Stripes USA-1 plate appeared.

I remember reading somewhere it was 1976. That was a bicentennial year so the red white and blue was added for the occasion. I can't confirm this with any documentation.

Thanks. That was my guess but haven’t seen anything to confirm. I wonder if GM/Chevrolet has a museum that might document something like these plates....

Are the '72 Building a better way to see the USA tags reproduced?

FWIW this plate is on the 99 Suburban (GMC) that recently followed me home. “Chevy Tough. Anytime Baby”

Cool thread with some very cool vintage Chevy and GMC plates. No pics right now but I have a "Built Chevy Tough'' on our '05 Tahoe, my '71 4x4, '71 Chevelle and the '57 2 door all have the Red, White and Blue "USA-1" tags on the front. Clear acrylic covers on all of them to keep them looking good with no bug goo, LOL. YOM tags for each on the back, luckily Kansas is a one tag state.
