Thanks for posting all of your results for the rest of us to follow along.

Re: May have finally sorted my less than stellar brake performance...
Hydro boost is run from the power steering pump right? I think I read on here somewhere that the LS based steering pump has a bit too much pressure for our old gear box's. If that is true then a hydro boost setup would be ideal here right? Maybe a question for another thread. BTW that is a nice looking LS you have there sir! I had to look twice. I am going back for a third. What AC bracket did you use for the Sanden?

Re: May have finally sorted my less than stellar brake performance...
Wanted to update this thread for those following along...I swapped my brake pads out for the Wilwood "E compounds". They have a slightly higher coefficient of friction across the temp. range than the BP-10 pads that came with the calipers. The combo of the new brake booster and the new pads is perfect! Pedal feel is soft and linear, much like a modern car, but the braking force is excellent. In a panic stop from 60, it brakes about the same as my 2016 4runner, with the fronts just barely hitting lock up, with no lock up in the rear.
At the end of the day, I think the changes were definitely worth the effort and a viable solution for those with low vacuum motors. |

Good to hear! Now it has GO and STOP! I also want to install some older style covers. I have a pair of 69 finned covers. I was thinking of hiding the coils with them. Not sure. I have always been skeptical of pads making a difference. I had the chance to buy some Brembo pads for my foreign car that just happened to need them. They were on a closeout for $5. I could not resist. I had two of the same exact cars and just did the brakes on one with stock stuff. The Brembo pads were fabulous! It stopped so fast that I was worried the airbag would deploy. Good job on the brakes!

Great news. I used to be a naysayer with pads making a difference, but I am no longer myself.

I went the HydroBoost route as well. I'm really happy with the outcome. Here's a link to that discussion, with some pictures: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=749153
