i rebuild the rear drums with almost all new HW
filled new Gear oil, and Painted the Rear end.

i also painted the 17" Steelies i want to use

Further i assembled the rear suspension
with new trailing arm bushings, Tinworks Panhead bar mount, 2in lowering blocks and 5" drop springs + shocks from cpp, shock relocation kit.

That was a filled weekend

Rear suspension is in.
I also got the Wheels and tires ready.
17x8 Silverado 2019 STEELIES; rears 275/55, Fronts 235/55
so i get a little bit a bulkier look in the back.

GUYS i need help:
i need 73-87 Square body Engine frame Pads, to place the engine .
the 67-72 dont work>

i dont know why i am not able to use the Buy and Trade section here.

So im looking for the brackets.

the engine and trans is in!!

for anybody who has the idea of putting a BUICK 455 in a 67-72 C10 i made a bunch of pics to help out with the Guesswork.
( i assume this applies for any BOP 455s)


1st i chose the73-87 Square Body Framemounts/pads i am sure you can fab your own but a great member on here sold me the mounts so i took advantage.

2. then i used the Buicks Engine& motor mounts i had ( mine where out of a Centurion but i guess the Skylark ones work as well.

3 you have to utilize the "BBody" mounting position for the the engine mounts on the Block 2nd and far back hole!

4 utilize as many pre drilled holes on the frame to fit your Frame brackets from frame to Crossmember! ( i had to drill 1 hole on the Frame and 1 on the crossmember to position them where i wanted them)

5 sit the motor+ trans in and LEVEL the engine; position it correct, so that you have a good angle on the trans tail. as well as centered to the rearend
( i used a trans Crossmember from TINWORKS with exhaust routing holes to tuck the exhaust.
ONCE it sits where you want it mark the holes on the frame pads you need to drill.

6 After confiming the position many times and testfitting the cab ( with a lift) for clearance i drilled the holes on the Frame pads/crossmember/frame.
then i installed the Frame brackets 1st with the Motor mounts attached to it.

7 YOU HAVE TO NOTCH THE FRAME FOR THE OIL FILTER CLEARNACE ( get your grinder) then place the engine and be HAPPY :)

I am still waiting on my front brake kit from CPP, they are delayed.

so i fabbed the Exhaust:
i cut holes in the Cross member and re-enforced it with 1/8 Stock (welded in)
i used th OEM exhaust to Manifold mounts welded on a 2.5 in adapter and custom cut/fabbed the 2.5in exhaust with some JEGS glasspacks ( cheapo )
to dump like 1 ft behind the Cab.
The Glasspacks are actually sitting only parially under the Cab/Gastank location
+ i will insulate the cab so i think i will have no issues with drone.

further it might make the STOCK 455 sound a lil bit rowdy :)

I also assembled the 5.3 LS i was talking about earlier; to make some room on my parts shelves.
Ported heads, Sloppy Stage2 Cam and Edelbrock Carb setup with MSD6014

Guaranteed it will sound rowdy. I ran my '71 Bonneville up and down the street a couple of passes with the mufflers cut off, on the way to my buddies muffler shop. I thought the 455 sounded great! ;)

When you said the trans tail is centered to the rearend did you mean the tailshaft is centered between the frame rails?
Most motors have the tailshaft offset 1/2 to 1 inch towards the passenger side. That’s to compensate for the pinion being offset the same.
You need the centreline of the motor parallel to the centreline of the pinion.
You can get some weird vibrations if not set up right.

Jop I am aware my crossmember allows to adjust L+R.
To make up for that.
For now I eyeballed it tailshaft to the rear end yoke.
And it looks pretty straight I also had a rope running just to see where we at.

You don’t want it straight on.
You want it parallel.
Centreline of the motor and centreline of the pinion parallel.

got it its all setup by measuring it the offset is like 1/2- 3/4 in now

I Got some work done.
i primed and painted the cab; at least the sections i wanted to paint such as Firewall, Inside of the cab and all the sheet metal fixes.
i fixed the oors (speakers cut out) and painted them as well i also made them look "old" on the outside whit water sanding and some paint games lol.

then i sound prooved the cab and inner door skins + put the Vintage Air unit in the cab, i also cut out the sections of the dash where i will have the vents placed.

further i assembled the Bed and put it on, it all lined up very well for a very beat up bed and Bed sides. i am pretty happy.
I patched the bed floor and will THICK Bed Liner the whole bed.

well the build is done..
i am missing some little details. like adjusting brakes , Satin clear coat once it warms up and hooking up the AC compressor once it arrives

Thanks , yes it runs pretty good i think i have the Qjet dialed in pretty well too. At least the AFR gauge shows good # lol
i was thinking on getting a holley sniper to make it more reliable but i hold on for now and see what she does.

i have not been On here for a while..
But No news is good news.

in the meantime i Clear coated the C10 to protect the patina, it is a blast to drive.
the Big Block has great grunt and wakes up the neighbours.
the th400 shifts firm and reliable, i have great temp readings here in TX i never get above 210 ish witch is great out here .
The AC works , what a relieve .
