Sounds like you got a decent starting point to a neat truck! If you're planning on keeping the overdrive transmission, there's a bunch of info on both the 67-72 and 60-66 sections about them.
I'm fairly certain my 63 came from the factory with an overdrive, but of course the previous owner replaced it. I put one back in though and really enjoy having the overdrive when hitting the highway.

Good chance it was one of the 4 bolt side cover Muncie versions that was swapped in. They weren't syncro'd in 1st gear, but with the way the overdrive functions, you can shift into first at very low speeds without grinding, only if the transmission is not locked out of overdrive. I purchased one from a guy that pulled it out of a 69 or 70 c10 that was on his property. The truck was there when he bought the place, so no clue how it ended up that way.

Yes, a 4x4 version was offered. I'm sure Keith has more knowledge on exactly what you need to make it work.

Once I get up and moving well enough I will post more pics. Member Uncle, hooked me up with the missing brackets which also gives me an excuse to go see him and member southern parts. If any of you need parts both of these men are solid and good friends to have. This is a neat truck for sure and hopefully I can restore it back to a former glory, however it would add a little coolness to add a dealer style or factory ac setup to it.
