I'm not too knowledgable on the paint/body terms so I don't know if it is a skim coat or not - it was my assumption that after he got it smoothed out as much as possible, he has applied a thin coat of filler where needed. If that is a skim coat, then yep, I think that is what it is.

Okay, talked to the body guy this morning and yes, that is a skim coat. He got the firewall and interior, except for the roof in etch primer yesterday. He plans to work on the roof today. Lots of old hail damage to deal with and a bullet hole to weld shut.
Progress is moving along well but we discussed that his self set Monday deadline is not realistic and that I want him to keep working hard on it but not to rush the job and make mistakes. Still alot to do, but headed in the right direction. Here are some cab pics. http://yuk0njack.com/bbproject/bodyshopp3050010.jpg http://yuk0njack.com/bbproject/bodyshopp3050011.jpg http://yuk0njack.com/bbproject/bodyshopp3050005.jpg |
LOOKIN GOOD!!! We are looking forward to more pics :D.....as if you didn't know that eh

I told the body guy today this was like a dream. Told him if you asked me 2 years ago if my truck would ever be stripped down and getting painted like this, I would have said you were crazy. Never thought that would be me, and here she is. When I started the 454 swap, Barn9 and Blazerboy helped pull the front clip and 307 out of this. They immediately pointed out some rust areas and said I should fix that while the clip was off. I told them, I could see fixing the two areas in question, but no way was I going to do more. They both smiled and said now's the time, I said, no way. They got a real kick out of me and said I would change my mind - hmmm, guess they were right!

I hear ya bud. The EXACT same thing happened to me. I was just gonna half ass patch up the rocker and cab corners, shoot some other paint on and install the flatbed. Turned out to be a bit bigger of a project after we started taking things apart. Now we have done the front and rear suspension, adding sway bars ( front and rear) lowering it 2" all around, built a 350 and gave away the inline, swapped doors, front clip, wheels, seats etc......... BUT, it will all be worth it in the end

It's lookin' better every day. Yeah, Jason (Blazerboy) and I did our best to convince him to do it up right while it was already torn apart, no better time for a touch up! I'm really glad to see it getting a good makeover. Another good ol' truck saved! And I can't wait to see that big ol' grin on his face when it hits the road! Oh, and by the way, this is a classic..........

Progress
Yukon Jack...
Your truck is coming along nicely. It sure looks like your body man knows his stuff. Question: What does this cab belong to ? Your avatar shows a flatbed... is that where it is going or does this cab belong to something else. Just wondering... |
Yep, it goes on the flatbed, it is a 1969 K20 that will be motivated by a 454 soon I hope!

Looks great, Mark. You were definitely victim of the "Just one more bolt..." syndrome!
