Thanks all!

Just minor things left to do:

Clean and detail the whole truck.
Gas gage not working for some reason.
I have two minor leaks to fix
emergency brake adjust
other misc stuff

I'll be making some more test runs as soon as I get my insurance.

jorgensensc 04-08-2004 01:31 PM

I am not a huge fans of 4x4's, but that truck is absolutely beautiful!!!!! I might have to change my ways and convert to the 4x4 side:) Great Job!!!

charlieo 04-08-2004 01:44 PM

Man !! Really nice job. I like your baby blu one just as much ! Whats your next project ? I'm doing the same thing to my 69 GMC 4x4 . Any reasons you don't use a 6" lift ?

Dean 04-08-2004 04:04 PM

I only use the 4" lift with 35" tires because they will fit in a standard 8" high garage door if needed. Not that important anymore since I have 10' doors in my shop.

I had a 78 K10 shortbed with over 12" of lift in high school so I kinda got that out of my system....lol Sure was fun helping the cheerleaders get in that truck though...;)

BobbyK 04-09-2004 07:02 AM

sweet resto man!

60apache4 04-09-2004 09:01 PM

Dang, Dean, you're always a few steps ahead of me. Though not original, I will have to replace the dual exhaust in my 71 K20 when I get there. The previous one was "aluminized" and didn't last as long as I thought it should.

What kind of mufflers are you running? Is it quiet or have a bit of rumble to it? How did you buys bend your own tubing? I gather you may have needed some special equipment not to mention the welding. And, finally, about how much did it cost? just planning ahead. Thanks.

P.S. What, No A/C? :D

72 CustomCamper 04-10-2004 01:28 AM

Man Dean, you have one sweet truck to be proud of there...

Chuck

Steven Sellers 04-10-2004 08:54 AM

Great looking ride wish mine looked half that good them maybe my turbines would look as good as yours:D

Dean 04-11-2004 09:37 AM

These mufflers are quiet. They came from Allen's Stainless in Indiana. They are actually Chevelle mufflers. Allen specializes in original exhaust in stainless for Corvettes & etc. I put stainless Borlas on my blue one and they are obnoxious. I actually put glasspacks in the tailpipes just to make it semi useable.

My buddy has a muffler shop so he has all the expensive bending equipment.

Yeah, this body didn't have A/C. I didn't really want it anyway. I have the original working system on my blue K20, but it isn't like the new systems. I might put aftermarket air on the green one someday.

Thanks for all the comments. I've put 31 miles on it so far...lol

FRENCHBLUE72 04-11-2004 11:27 AM
