Some one some were made this pics of my LCF as a low-rider, I'm not a low-rider fan, but I'm not the Truck Police either, I may like my trucks to be more on the stock side, but I have never stopped anyone form doing what they want to do with their truck.

Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
This is going to be a cool build im currently parting a LCF cab I picked up cheap I'm planning on making a dresser out of the hood haha I think it would be cool of course my wife will want a divorce when i tell her im bringing it in the house so in the end it will end up in the junk pile behind my garage. So i cant wait till is done, I say BIG BLOCK would look cool between the frame rails with a 8-71 ofcourse good luck oldno7

Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
Sorry for no updates, We haven't had much time to work on it lately. The shop is picking up so fun stuff has to wait. We do have the frame about striped down and almost ready to start cutting! I do believe I am going to cut and narrow he fron axle a bit, 6-8" or so. That way we can keep the original one in it.

On the engine, not to get carried away, but first thing that came to my mind with that kind of length was maybe a little 'jet' engine-maybe.

Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
on the engine, I do have an extra 16V71 TT, put an allison trans behind it. Keep it all GM, don't think anyone has ever used a 16 before, forget the little stuff like a 12V.

Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
We are trying to build this truck on a budget. I kinda thing slamming a 2ton truck to the ground is pretty radical enough without going to crazy on the engine. W have located a 572 big block but the gu still wants $5k for it. We are still a ways away for an engine install.

Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
If you looking for reliability with some guts try a 8.1 (496 cu) out of a early 2000's chevy truck. There a good running engine with more guts than a 6.0. I have one in a Suburban that I really like.
|
Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
Yes, the 8.1 is an option if we can find one at a reasonable price. They range from $200 blown up to $8,000ish. Its almost cheaper to buy a whole truck with one in it.

Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project

The suspension is off the back and the double frame has been removed.

Here it is as of now. We dropped the frame 20" over all, this will give us enough clearance for when the bags are all the way down the frame will sit right an an inch above the axle.

Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
Once it is back on the ground I dont thiink it will look like so much of a drastic of a drop. And BTW we have made a choice on what is going to power this thing, and boy are you guys in for a shock!!! lol

UPDATE: We Moved The Shop!!
You never know how much crap you really have until you move!! Holy Cow!!! |
Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
Well, we got itchy so we did some work on the truck. Since the shop is in disaray we decided to chop the cab! Mind you I have never done this before, but hey you gotta learn sometime right?? LOL
We chopped it 3" in the back and 4" in the front to give it a mean look.:metal::metal: |

Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
This was the first ever chop top for any of us here. We took lots of time figuring the best way we thought it should be done. After we got it to the point where it is now, there has been 3 different high end hotrod builders stop by and look at it. All 3 said we are doing an awesome job so far. That was a relief!!
|
Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
looks cool!, check out how I did the chop in my 60, (link in my signature) for an idea on how to do the headliner
|
Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
Jonz, thats pretty cool! We are hoping that the windsheld isnt going to be to much of a headache. The way we chopped it it an are putting it back together, it should only have to be shortened and not reshaped.
|
Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
you should be ok, as long as you don't move the posts inward, the chop should work, my 2 inch chop required the top of the windshield opening to spread apart about 5/8 of an inch.
|
Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
Looks downright wicked, gotta love it
|
Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
do you have the windshield cut yet?
you should fit the cut windshield to the frame |
Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
No, we havent cut the windsheild yet. I plan on cutting it then fit the cab to it.
|
Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
this guna be awesome
|
Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project
Badass! Personally id shorten it up, make her single axle, and put a flatbed on it. Flat black all of it on 22/24 semis, and keep the motor under the hood anddrop a 572 or bigger with a 8-71. But thats me
