VSS Water temp Trans temp gear indicator Tach should show up but i ran the white wire from the ecm to the bim check engine light i also ran the tan mil light from ecm to the bim i didnt have cruise so i dont know if the light shows up. oil pressure is not shown. i had to run the DD sender unit and wiring. also wiring in a 2nd aldl connector doesnt work. when the DD is plugged into 1 port it wont allow a scan tool (gm tech 2) or a tune tool (hp tuner or efi live) to communicate with the ecm. you HAVE to unplug the DD before trying to communicate with the ecm anyway. this is just my experience on a 411 warren pcm which i have done a few swaps with. |

Re: Dakota Digital HDX with the OBDII BIM module
anyone have issues with their gauges cutting out? I have the BIM with VHX in my pickup. High RPM accel 'power' them down and they restart. Its only the gauges run through the BIM module that have seem to have this issue. Using the 0411 PCM as well. Just kinda frustrating cause i cannot see the rpm or speed when flooring it.

Re: Dakota Digital HDX with the OBDII BIM module
I just placed my order for the gauges & the BIM module (MCB MATT). I will be installing into a '86 C10 with a 2013 4.8 LS. I am utilizing the factory harness & underhood fuse box. it is a stock daily driver setup. I will be following along to see what I need to watch out for. :smoke:

Re: Dakota Digital HDX with the OBDII BIM module
I forgot about this thread. So I have my gauges installed with BIM module. I got the RTX model for my 70 C10. They are awesome. And for my update to the question I asked above, I got everything from the stock PCM/ECM. I ended up with a 2003 6.0L PCM actually, the harness I rebuilt was from a 2005. And I "DO" get oil pressure from the BIM, I also get Trans Temp as well from the 4L60E as well.
FYI I followed LT1SWAP.COM videos to rebuild my harness. It's not that bad to do, you just need to go slow, take notes, and be thorough with the wiring and connections. If I ever do this again, I will extend the harness next time so it would relocate into the cab. Here is quick video I did a couple months back. TA_C10 Dakota Digital RTX :chevy: |
Re: Dakota Digital HDX with the OBDII BIM module
EDIT: Nevermind - seems you got oil pressure, which is pretty awesome.

Re: Dakota Digital HDX with the OBDII BIM module
I have been waiting 2 months for my RTX gauge set up, everything is on backorder! I will be using the OBDII BIM and the OBDII cruise control module. I hope it all works with a quality OBDII splitter (I bought the AMP research one that is supposed to be pass through). I "hope" it all works. A lot of money for a gauge cluster when you add in all the modules.

Yeah, I was mistaken. 99-02 trucks I dont believe have provisions for oil pressure in the PCM but it can be added and enabled in the red/blue PCM's, but 03+ with the green/blue PCM's do. I am using an 06 PCM with a PSI harness in my swap, but I believe my engine has a pressure switch rather than sensor. I'm using a tablet + OBD2 reader for a dash, but the PID for Oil Pressure (22115c) with what I believe to be the right equation is only showing "0" or "1." Your comment actually made me dig further into adding oil pressure to my tablet display, so thank you for following up! |

The splitter I bought doesn't work simultaneously, but I used it anyway, It still works better for me the way I mounted it all I have to do unplug the DD unit. What is your goal with the splitter? |

I have the OBDII BIM and an OBDII Cruise module so I have to use a splitter on at least those. I would like to be able to plug in a tuner or scan tool without removing the cable? I bought an AMP research true pass through splitter. I will do the BIM module for the gauges first. Once that is working I will add the cruise module and see if we can get that to work. If I can get both to work I mat add a second AMP research splitter and see if I can scan while everything is all plugged in? |
Re: Dakota Digital HDX with the OBDII BIM module
I'm curious why do you need the cruise control bim? The PCM and TAC in my 2003 unit is just 4 wires to connect to stick on column and power/brake switch. Does your newer PCM/TAC setup not have that?
