Re: MY build thread...
I'm not sure where the guy I bought them from got them but he was from arazona and they were tabco. Thanks I am trying to make sure this thing last as long as possible. I am getting to the point of seam sealing inside and epoxy priming the crap out of everything.

Re: MY build thread...
Nice work!! I really like how your cab corners fit up. My passenger side went it good the drivers side drove me bananas. Keep up the progress.
|
Re: MY build thread...
Well I got my other cab corner done but my camera batteries were dead so tomarrow I will have pics of that and the start of making my door gap smaller. I need to get some side work so I can buy some materials and tools like stud gun and sheet metal brake. I am going to get rage filler, all metal and eastwood epoxy black primer to start.

Re: MY build thread...
BTW I dont really know why all that mud is on the door cause it lines up fairley well so I'm looking forward to grinding it out... That second pic looks like Crap!!!

Re: MY build thread...
Looks good....And from the Paint and Body Section...I got to ask a few things....Is this door original....? Have you tried reaming the Upper and Lower Door hinges out..? < this may help with the Gap issue....And one more....I have found that if you was to add the round bar ( i prefer flat stock) to the cab instead of the door it will make life much easier....This goes for mudd work and metal finishing....I like to metal finish everything before mudd..Hope this may help you....
|
Re: MY build thread...
It will get metal finished before mudd for sure and I cant move the door back anymore the door tumbler hits the cab piller behind the striker plate. This is the original door also cause the base paint is the same as the rest of the truck now if it has been removed ???? I would think round on the cab would take more work to get it to "flow" into the old metal whewre on the door I weld both sides of the round stock and can adjust the gap by removing metal but no welds. And it is the same thickness as the door skin.

Re: MY build thread...
Not much to post lately but this weekend I will have some. Getting the door handle pocket patches fabbed up and ready to cut them out and put them in and got the back of the cab ready for epoxy just waiting to get some strainers and sticks from work tomarrow and hopefully I can get at least the back of the cab primed. This build would go alot quicker if I only had more money:lol::whine:

Re: MY build thread...
"if I only had more money" You forgot time. LOL. Hey your truck is coming along nice.

Re: MY build thread...
Thanks for the kind words to keep me encouraged. I now see why people that get into this stuff without a plan loose intrest because it get EXPENSIVE quickly. I mean I still have to buy rage filler,2K euro primer, long blocks, two front fenders,paint\clear. And then put it back togather...Anybody interested LOL

Re: MY build thread...

Re: MY build thread...
Got them from a swap meet in lawrance saterday 5-2-09. They are all over ebay for around $75-85 but I got them for 84 with rubber vc gaskets. I looked at the chrome ones just like these but the finish was real weavy and looked cheap. Thanks guys.

Well no progress other than grinding cause I've been workin on some side jobs for my buddies 74 drag truck like solid motor mounts and an aluminum overflow tank. Heres the tank but cant find the mount pics.

Re: MY build thread...
looks good keep up the good work
|
Re: MY build thread...
Did you weld up the joint on the hood? They look great! How difficult was that? I am thinking about doing that as well if it's not too dangerous (warpage)
|
Re: MY build thread...

Yes I welded it up and it took roughly about 3 hrs of tack welds and still have some warpage above the blinker light holes but not bad then grinding afterwards. Be prepared cause it doesnt take long to get discouraged doing this. I also found my other pic of what my saterdays consist of. Not mine but I help on it every saterday night.
