Re: Project '64 C-10 Truck - built in Germany

Well that does suck. I would be talking to the primer mfg and or the supplier.

I do know that if you were using PPG primer, and it was bad primer, they will pay to have your cab re-blasted. But I see you said you were using HOK Epoxy primer, and I don't know about their policies.

I thought there were some very good paints made in Germany?

Did your blaster use soda on the cab at all? If so that could be the issue. Everything I have heard about the after effects of soda blasting is not good. There are a few paint mfg's that will not guarantee their paint if it is applied over a soda blasted surface. PPG is one of them. I will never have anything soda blasted. There are better medias available.

Hello Everyone ...

no updates so far - waiting for all the new parts to be worked on and the sheet metall for the floors ... I also need a high hump transmission tunnel - does anyone has one for sale. Shippuing to Cali or New Jearsy!

Thanks
Fabian

Re: Project '64 C-10 Truck - built in Germany

Some updates:

It is so far a slow project, as the parts ar still missing. I have received all parts for the frame from portwebuilt but all the sheetmetall for the cab is missing and was forgotton in the LA port. So this will be here hopefully in 4 weeks from now.

We have finished to assamble to complete from with the great parts from Nate and have these now all at the blaster and than powedercoaters.
The frame and the rear end will be finished satin black and all other parts get a satin gun metall finish. I think this will look nice.

Little update ...

Thanks to Del most of the parts are finally here in Germany,... and I can start the building of the frame. We built in the drop kit from Nate all in and now everything is at the powdercoaters.

The frame and rear end is a semigloss black and most of the suspensionparts are in a semigloss gunmetall grey. Should look nice if all built together.

Sorry I didn't post back. I do have the piece that is spot welded to the firewall. Do you need that piece as well as the transmission tunnel itself?

iif you can get one out of a 60-62 gmc that had a hydramatic in it, you get a high hump with no holes in it except for the bolt holes and the frt section bolts in rather than being welded in

I got all parts back from the powdercoater and put some parts together to see the color combo.

The middele section of the frame will be gunmetall grey so it will look fresh!

I think the most incredible thing about this build is that you are doing it in a foreign country!!
It is hard enough to get stuff for these rigs or done to them here in the states (although Alaska is almost a foriegn country too) I cannot imagine the challenges you have over there!

What part of Germany are you? You must be in or near a large metropolitan area like Frankfurt, Munchen, or Berlin...??

Well it is true ... and without the help of DELMO this would not be possible. I tried planing it all through but you still miss sometimes parts or the shipping company from the US to Germany misses so boxes to put into the container. I am wanting since 12 weeks now on some $300 sheet metal parts and con not work on the cabin as of that and the whole projects has to wait ... but once it is all done it is even nicer.

Frame will be all done in the next 2-3 weeks with the LS engine in and than it is wanting for the other parts to arrive in January by container.

In the meantime we are working on my 61 Parkwood and it is on its way to the painter now and getting it all done ....

Only problem is the serpentine belt kit of the original LS1 - it is from a Camaro and does not clear the power steering. Any suggestions what serpentine belt kit will work?

Street Performance
Billet Specialties

Any other ideas?

Unless it's aftermarket, I would think either Corvette or the trucks?? I'm just guessing, I'm not extremely familiar with those engines. Looking good to me, by the way!!
