Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
I would definetlty take the overlays,2 sets of them. I already have 2 clusters from s10 projects I have that I swapped them out to get a tach cluster lol. Is there 2 overlays, one for the design on the gauge, and one for the lense? I am unclear on that.

Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
How do you go about getting the original numbers off the gauge face before you painted the new ones on? Sanded or what? Thanks.

Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
Couple of questions:
1.) what kind/brand of paint is it you are using to airbrush the stencil? 2.) Is that a factory or aftermarket tach you are using? Did you have to modify it to work on an LS motor? 3.) any chance you have a wiring diagram of what you made? Thanks for sharing this modification. |

2) It's an aftermarket tach, you just need to set the tach resolution from 6 to 3 in the tune. This doubles the signal sent to the tach since LS motors puit out a 4 cylinder tach signal. 3) I can make a diagram, but basically I just wired it like the printed circuit, with a few changes, like the voltmeter rather than the ammeter. |

Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
Hey guys, these were supposed to be ready today, but I didn't make it to the printer before he closed. I will definitley go by on Monday morning and will be shooting for Tuesday to ship them out.
I'm also going to be including another template with themfor the box that covers the back of the speedometer. You'll have to trace it onto a piece of sheetmetal and bend it up. It may require some tweeking, but it's better than having to start from scratch. Thanks for everyone's patience, Eric. |
Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
Thanks Eric, looking forward to getting the package!
After running into this thread I got motivated to get my instruments sorted out while the rest of the truck is in progress. I stopped by pull and pay today and got some goodies! I figured while I was busy with the speedometer I might as well add a tach too. I found a tach from a 78 camaro in great shape and I think it was only $6. They only had 2 96/97 S10's in the yard, both were tach dashes. I had the guy at the counter cross reference the speedometer for me and it turns out they are the exact same ones that are fitted to similar year blazers without tachs. I don't remember the exact year range, but I think it might have been 3 or 4 years. This was helpful because they had about 20 blazers that I could choose from instead of only the 2 S10's. Can anyone else confirm that the blazer speedometer is the same as the S10? Edit: It appears that the instrument panels are the same on all tachless chevy s10, blazers, gmc sonoma, jimmy. The speedometer from any of these models should work. Definitely all '96 and '97 models, possibly '95 as well. |

Re: 67-72 Electric speedo
Hey guys, I have to apologize, but I just left the printer and they are not done yet. They were supposed to be done last week, but I didn't make it there on Friday so I went by when he opened yesterday morning. He said he was really busy and hadn't got a chance to do them yet, but said they should be done late in the afternoon today. So I just went by and they still are not done... and he said it could be a couple of days. I asked him what the worst case scenario would be and he said friday. I am truely sorry this has taken so long and I hope I haven't inconvenienced anybody. I'm not trying to stall on this, but apparently my small order doesn't get top priority. I hope everyone understands, and I hate the way this makes me look, it's just out of my control. Again, I do apologize and will get them all out just as soon as I get them.
Thanks, Eric Posted via Mobile Device |
