I'd just order up a new tank and sending unit, along with a new sending unit wire. (The original will undoubtably be dry rotted, and considering the location it would be prudent).

Just looking at those pictures, I can smell the varnished gasoline!

Oh ya for sure! No mistaking that smell! haha

I had a 68 c10 307 with a three on the tree and overdrive. I never did get it to work right. when i sold it the new owner pointed out that there was a fuse holder near the brake booster that was missing a fuse. it had somthing to do with the over drive.

So the best deal I've found for a gas tank is The Truck Shop. $192 + shipping for the tank, sending unit, and straps. Anybody have a better idea? Thanks for any input...

Well we got it fired up! In the video my wife says second try, but the first try we didnt even attempt because I realized the throttle linkage wasn't hooked up, so this was our actual first try. Just wanted to clear that up. haha:metal:

I'm jealous! Even when I suspected I had catastrophic engine issues, I would take the burb for a cruise around the block just to calm my nerves!

I didn't want to drive too much, it's not licensed yet. And the only brakes I have is the parking brake. haha:crazy:

This thing is so cool to drive, it's a cruiser no doubt. I don't even wanna go over 40 mph in it.:smoke:

Gotta have the reverse lights on just in case! haha. It does float down the road! I did pay $500 less than what he was asking, and after spending $100 to get it running I payed way less than he was gonna ask for it once he had it running....:metal:

So this last weekend we got it running and Evanz67 went crazy on the tint and peeled it all off. Thanks pal! Had a little bit of a worry cause it wouldn't go into gear. No big thing, we pulled the cover and pulled the clutch pads away from the flywheel as they were a little stuck. Runs like a dream and shifts just as good. Over drive doesn't seem to work, but haven't researched it yet.
Ok, today the boy and I got the brakes working, got the oil pressure gauge working, new air filter installed, and thanks to a really good guy, got us some hubcaps! We even drove it into town to the auto parts store!

So Johnny, after seeing all the work involved are you glad you stopped working on it? The owner before you must have had some old gas in that thing for a lot of years.... That gas tank was gone.

Tried out my new sandblaster from harbor freight! Just a quickie job to see how it would do. Not bad for an 8 gallon 125 psi compressor and a sandblaster that I got for $15 on sale and with a coupon! haha

Now, on to the questions. Is this the original middle seat for a 68 suburban? It seems to sit too far back, and you can see the chain that the ppo had in it to keep the back from leaning too much. Thank you for any info!
