I need the grommet to fill this hole, but couldn't find it on gmcpaul's site. Anyone have a clue where to find it?

Re: Project: Shiro
Looks like an extra non-factory hole,...

Okay, which wheel do you all like? Wheel 1 is a classic GM style and I like the look the best but I don't like it's size at 15". Wheel 2 is similar but a bit more retro/modern looking and is 14" which I like. Both have a 2.5" dish. Let me know what you think.

Re: Project: Shiro
1st wheel for sure!
(make sure you use a 67-68 camaro hub) The '69-up hub is larger than the diameter of the truck steering column. I actually had the second wheel in my daily driver '91 S10. Leather on the wheel looked like crap in a year. Pretty disappointing considering what it cost. |

Re: Project: Shiro
Cursory to-do list so far:
1. Install seat belts 2. Fix turn signal switch 3. Fix fuel gauge 4. Fix dash lights 5. Fix or replace grill assembly 6. Add some tunes 7. Adjust headlights Maybe by the time these are done I'll know what I am going to do with the suspension and drive train... ;) |

Re: Project: Shiro
I have connections on repro 3 spoke wheels, I can get really nice ones for wholesale. Let me know.. (it would be a black one though). Might save you a little. $.

Re: Project: Shiro
Yeah. Like the one on Keith's truck. Original type repro but they are very nice quality, I have had several. I'd put one on my lawnmower if I could.
I want to say they are $220 but let me make sure. Are you in a big hurry for it? I will be going over to my friends shop probably the weekend after Christmas. I can pick one up for you. Shipping might offset it .. thinking maybe you might find a coupon somewhere. It would come from Chevy World Parts in Bryant AL. Lynn Welden, I have known him for 25+ yrs. |

Most of these kits sell the larger diameter '69-up hub. |

Re: Project: Shiro
I say some nos upper and lower trim, bags and wheels and drive the wheels off.

Re: Project: Shiro
Nice!

Re: Project: Shiro
Maybe call him and tell him Chad Coley referred you, he usually cuts me a deal on stuff. That way you can request the 67-68 hub. Most of the time they come with the larger hub like Keith mentioned. I'm not sure where he's getting them but it is a very nice quality reproduction wheel.
He sells about everything for our trucks. Just an friend from my first gen Camaro days. |
Re: Project: Shiro
A little cheaper? http://bit.ly/1ezKlBt

Re: Project: Shiro
My vote would be for the first wheel as well. You know I'm going to say a mild bag job would look great on this truck but if not, I think the current stance looks great. I do agree with Keith though, a set of 20" Mag-G's would look so right on this truck. I think Billet Specialties dropped the prices on them, you can get 20's for less than 2g's from Newstaglia wheel.

This is the truck that sold me on Mag-G wheels from Billet Specialties (18's and 20's).
I would do all 20's. I love the grey Torq Thrust II's (even though most think they are played out),... but the Mag-G wheel has a soft lip instead of a step lip. That's a bonus to me. Perfect patina'd truck wheel. Again,... just my opinion. |

Re: Project: Shiro
I thought I had a clear picture of what I wanted to do with this truck, but at this point I'm not too sure. It's cool that it has low miles and in good shape, but it was bought for my son and I don't think I would turn him loose on the streets with this truck in its current configuration. I have some folks telling me it would be a shame to do an engine and/or transmission swap, and on the other hand my WIFE is telling me I owe it to him to build him a sweet hot-rod truck. I like to adhere to the "Happy Wife, Happy Life" way of living, but I am honestly conflicted.
