So far I've done everything myself. I haven't done nothing but clean and paint parts so far.
I really haven't decided yet which way to go on the install. I'm working 6 days a week 12hrs so getting home in the afternoon at 6:30pm doesn't leave me a lot of time and this will be until the week before Christmas and then all the Christmas stuff to do.
I have checked on a couple of installs and am leaning towards Hawks in Easley SC. He will do a turn key job for me with a dyno tune afterwards.
I hate to spend that kind of $$$$ though but like the idea of 6months warrinty on everything he does. He gave me a price of $4800.00 + the tune for $400.
I will have the dough just hate spending it for this. I really don't have the garage space to have all this in either and he said 2 weeks and it's done.

I am kindof tight when it comes to that stuff. But it sounds like you are tight on time. I could never make myself spend that dough on an install but I do have more time to spend on it so I do understand.
To me if you already have the engine and the harness done he seems high. Is he going to tear down and rebuild your motor? I am not sure what kindof warranty he will give you on "everything he does".
Basically you need to buy you some motor mounts to mount the new to the old get an engine hoist and drop it in place. Bolt it up. You may need to modify your tranny mount but I am not even sure of that with what is out there. You have the hard part done with your fuel doing your TPI unless you are going to redo it.
Hook up your wires and start it... Ok I left a couple steps out but they are no different than any engine swap.
Good luck Andy on which ever way you go it will make a fun beast.
Dave

I have the motor mount plates already. He garrinties the whole thing tune setting up the exshaust. Transmission everything he installs headers. He said it will be ready to drive when I pick it up. I just don't have the space are the time to do it at the house. No I really don't want to spend that much on the install but just can't see getting it done. I also have a golf cart torn a part rebuilding it also for my niece and nephew. I have the garage full of parts and carts and it's driving me crazy. I promised the cart to them for Christmas. ;):chevy:

Got a little more done to the motor. It's getting closer. I got the new knock senors and wiring installed and intake. Coils are mounted but need some new SS bolts to mount them with. ;):chevy:

Andy have you dropped this off to get it up and going yet? I know you are excited to get it swapped and running.

Re: 2003 LSx swap thread...here we go

Nope.
I plan on taking some 401 stock out next year for the house redoing so I will get enough for the swap. He said bring it a couple of weeks before Christmas and I would have it back the 2nd week of Jan. I hope to have the money by then. My fianaical manger said wait until after the first so I don't have to pay taxes until the following year on it.
Bruce said no problem he just needs $500.00 depoist so I got that covered.

Re: 2003 LSx swap thread...here we go

Hi Andy, years ago when this co-worker and i were younger (40ish) he cashed in his 401k for a down payment on a new van. I cautioned him that he would get 60 cents on the dollar in the account. He told me it had 10k in it. I said he will be hit with a 10% penalty for withdrawl before 58 1/2, and said to take the taxes out upon withdrawl otherwise it's taxable income at the end of the year. Anyway he did it and got $6100 after penalty and taxes removed. Maybe this is all changed now, but he hated me that day i told him but later appreciated the info and saved the tax hassle later. Just trying to be helpful, don't mean to pry as money and personal matters can be a hot subject! Good luck, Brian F.

Yea I know,
I'm closing out the account. I opened it back when I first started working for D/E 35 years ago. The account isn't very friendly when I want to move it. I'm transferring most of it to our joint 401K so I can move it around better.
I'm keeping enough out to finish the remodel of the house and the truck though.

Yeah man. I had some time off work and placed my order this week. The old rusty exhaust manifolds on my truck will soon be replaced with a set of coated headers. :c2: I've been wanting to re-route the exhaust on my truck for awhile also, so I will do that at the same time.

Cooh, I have a 69 firebird and have a painless harness for that and my 71 C30 has a harness made from HOWELL EFI and the HOWELL harness hands down was the better choice.

Great job Andy. Now that truck will be even that much harder to keep up with on the '14 tour. Looking forward to meeting up with you all in June to make that trip to the Dells. Have you been in touch with Big Dave and the group from last year? I have not been on bangshift. Was a rough summer health wise for me but I'm back.

Yes I have. Dave and I plan to room together for 2014. I'm planning on running the drag strip at Charlotte I hope and not break anything! Can't wait to see everyone again. Should be a good time for sure.Hope everything is well with you and the family.
Talked to Bruce this morning. Looks like it's going to be done on time and should have it ready for our jan 25th local meeting at Twin Peaks in Greenville SC.

Re: 2003 LSx swap thread...here we go

Went by Hawks today and dropped off the parts they needed. The motor is in and they are doing final prep work. Had to redo the cooling though the motor fan is gone and they put dual electric fans instead. The other way wasn't going to allow enough room for the air intake hose and mass senor.
They built the headers for it and tweeked the fram a little on the passenger side. They did a great job on the frame because I couldn't even tell where they tweeked it at. Had to cut 1 1/2" off the drive shaft and put new yoke on it. The computer is back inside the glove box like before so I'm happy about that not being out on the front fender well. They have the AC compressor mount but are waiting on a serpinten pully for the compressor.
Thats it except for hooking all the connectors up. They drilled the water pump for the steam line. They said hope to have it running by Friday, keeping my fingers crossed!
