The right side of dash is not finished, the Vintage air unit used up alot of space. Roger will finish right side dash in the next few weeks. Stay Tuned

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck

Will you be doing away with the stock glove box on the far right? And do you think if you do you will be using the grab bar from the Impala also? I see you filled in the control area for the hvac from the Impala dash. What are you thinking for that? What are the seats from?
Man this beotch is gonna be F-ING KILLER!!!

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck

Dirty Doug, The stock glove box door will be gone, we are having issues with the AC unit and we need some type on access door for the AC unit. It was a very tight fit. Roger did not expect that with the Vintage Air Gen.II unit.

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck

The grab bar like on the 62 SS would be really cool ! Just a thought , didn't know if you were thinking about using one or not . What colors will the dash and metal be inside ?

Which engine should I run?

327 Bored .030 comp cam / roller rockers or a LS-2 carburated with GM front dist. drive. ASA hot cam ???? undecided ????

Also will be running a T-56 from a 97 Trans Am with 3.73 rear gears ?

Both engines will look very Old Skool .

What you guys like the trick battery boxes ?

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck

Greg, as much as I dig the LS series, from what you have told me about the build I cannot see anything but the old school 327. Yes we can make the LS look old but is kinda like making an old woman look young... yeah its cool but something aint quite right :haha: The 327 fits the build better, you have the 60's dash and keeping the wheels more traditional but bigger. Just my thoughts my man, I will call you later this week or early next week.

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck

Carter,

Kinda the same thing Roger Burman said. The 327 is setting in the chassis now and i agree does fit the build better. But it also would be nice to have that killer LS-2 power????

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck

I think it would be easier to make the 327 "fit" the build... but I am a HUGE fan of the LS. I think you could pull off the LS, and I think it would be worth it.

kart34 11-22-2010 06:21 PM

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck

I could make it a GMC and make the LS look like a GMC v-6 ???

Dirty Doug 11-22-2010 09:21 PM

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck

327 ! Use the LS in the wagon. Also when I did the math/calculations on my ElCamino with the T56 and a 27.5 ish tire , I will be able to use a 4:56 gear and only run 2100 RPM at around 75mph , if I remember right. I did the calculation off of a web site 3 years ago. They make a S10 rear with a 4:10 gear. That 6th gear is like a double over drive. But the 327 would be a cooler piece in that shop truck!

This is a real nice start, kart34. I am along for the ride. I would go with the 327 for this build and send me the LS.:lol:

66 C-10 Project next one in line / also scored a big back window cab cut:metal:

20 inch Dodge steelies with 1970 nova poverty cap undecided if we will use these or not. The bolt pattern kinda sucks and the rims are very heavy. I am having Delmo work on some pricing on those slick Centerlines Smoothies.

Thanks Guys ... Just got back from Lakeside Rods and Rides. Roger Burman and crew have done a very impressive job on the 61 Impala dash install .

The center console is about finished and the engine turned door and kick panels are next. The engine turned dash insert looks killer with the Classic Instrument pinstriped gauges . Photos comming soon ! ;)
