Re: Thread #2: Early Hauler Pictures...
Rob,I like those early`30s.Hey Wes,my eyes aren`t so good, but I saw something that I took for louvers in that area.Who knows, maybe a reflection.I just figured louvers. Those body mods take a trained eye.I know that grille was unique.I like the truck.
Dan,sorry,I have another picture to mess your plan up more: http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...Elks012-th.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...2_3241_JPG.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...cks/chevy3.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...0009205B5D.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...rsOpen1946.jpg |
Re: Thread #2: Early Hauler Pictures...
There must have been a steel shortage,so they were forced to use wood on these:

Re: Thread #2: Early Hauler Pictures...
Special-K, Can you post a larger picture of the green/black panel from the rear? It came out tiny and the one from the front came out large earlier. Man, I am liking so many of the pictures I am seeing here. They better make this thread a sticky.

Wes,
Thanks for the help, I will contact him. I plan on starting to cut this weekend so the more information the better. Todd |
Re: Thread #2: Early Hauler Pictures...
That green one is beautiful!! It really must be nice, my wife even nodded in approval. And she doesn't care much for panels. :metal:

Re: Thread #2: Early Hauler Pictures...
Dan,I`m afraid that`s the best I can do.I was nabbing pictures wholesale from socalcarculture.com and stopped clicking each one to save time (a good while back) and didn`t realize it mattered until too late.I have all kinds of too smallpictures and am frustrated over it...ARGH!!
Here`s a pre-47 for ya: http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...-Firetruck.jpg |

A few more I've collected that made an impression.
I keep thinking about what color/wheels mine will eventually have...I' pretty sure I'm keping my steelies but will also have a set of 60's cast gray cxentered Torque Thrusts too for when I am feeling more hotrod-ish than stock-ish. But it'll be a long time. My daughter is getting married this year...so you know where all my cash is going. I keep coming back to black but I'm really not sure that's the right color. I also like the era-correct solid bright colors too. |
Re: Thread #2: Early Hauler Pictures...
I tell you, there are just too many choices to make, what style,color,wheels,era...I`d have to have a dozen to start to come close to covering what I like.

Re: Thread #2: Early Hauler Pictures...
Rob,I`ve had all those awhile.Love`em,huh?Metoo! They`d be right at home in the Smokies.I believe I got them (seperately) off Ebay,IIRC.I used to go there and nab alot of pics. These are an inspiration. Those military trucks can run huge tires and it`s just a bolt-on deal.

I love that semi wheel conversion. Very well done. I would love to set an old tow truck up like that one day. Just flat out cool!!! Or a fire truck like Dan's.
Like this one. |
Re: Thread #2: Early Hauler Pictures...
ME TOO! How cool would the early iron hauling cars be?Just a canvas for cool door art, too. There`s something super nostalgic about an old wrecker from any year. That`s why I wanted my`71.Nice pickups are great, but to roll in with a wrecker...now that`s just too cool.
That`s a sweet one there. Here`s a different twist you don`t see .It was built this way in the day.I believe it`s Austrailian: http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...ks/rt_side.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z.../left_side.jpg |
