I'm planning on painting it two tone Hugger Orange and White . Just like this one. No pic's of the body at this time, it's in pieces in the shed, basement and any other place I could find room.

Looks like your therapy is going well and you seem to be well on your way to a full recovery:)

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )

My friend John ( Grendel ) bought the kits, I believe it was through NWF ( North West Fabs ) I'm rebuilding two T/C's for his projects along with mine.
His are going to be a bit more involved, NP203 doublers and stuf. These kits are complete or master kits. They have everything from gaskets to bearings & seals for just about any NP205 available !!!!

Going though a divorce after 26yrs of marage is one of the most difficult things I have ever expirienced, having something to focus on and keep your mind occupied can be you savior. I have always loved working on a project, figuring out problems and fabricating things, my wife hated my projects, the way I look at it is I could have been at bars, doing drugs or chasing woman.
Sorry for the rant, but it's part of getting through this thing !!!!

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )

My thoughts are the same Gary......that's what I tell my wife when she gets a little "testy" about all the time I spend on mine.....I could have worse habits..sitting in a bar, etc.....

Gotta be an adjustment after that much time with one women, but I'm sure you'll be fine...just takes some time.

Besides working on your truck to pre-occupy yourself, you need to find some little hottie (even if it's temporary).......that's some of the best therapy I've ever experienced in my "times of distress" before the current Mrs!

BTW......truck is gonna be hella nice!

Hey sorry about the divorce but as most have said it was the best thing to ever happen to me. My wife now is the best women I have ever met love her to death. The truck is looking sharp but if you keep up the pace you will be looking for a new project soon. Keep up the great work can't wait to see more.

Gary,

I am actually hiding from the little ones right now, and your thread is my therapy! ;) They aren't mine, so I can say that. At first I was like, dude, sucks, alone at Christmas, but as I looked at what you accomplished all I could think was there could be no better way to get your mind off things then by putting together such a pretty drive train. I hope you know we are all behind you while you go through your "Therapy", and we can't what to see it when you are done!

Have one on me bud :barn:

There's no doubt about it that this project has helped me keep myself occupied when I'm home alone. But this coming Sunday I start a new therapy that may slow my progress by take away some of my free time. I have a date with a woman I met at a Christmas party a couple of weeks ago.

Way to go get back into the game as soon as possible and life gets a lot easier. Just don't let us down on that sweet build you are doing.Or you can always sell it to me to finish lol.

It's taken 2 weeks between our schedules to find time for the 1st date, so there will still be plenty of time for the truck.

Real nice project you have going. Here is some humor to cheer you up. Trucks and some women are very much alike. They both cost you lots of money, They both break down from time to time and they both take you for rides and can leave you feeling stranded. The good side is men know how to fix trucks so you do get back in the garage. No harm no fowl just fun humor.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

I would caution you about investing too much into your current project at this time. My lawyer advised me (yes been there done it) to stop all work on mine as I was making the project higher in value and tougher on me when it came time to pay my out my ex. Your truck in pieces is at it's lowest value at this present time. More then likely your truck will be considered a family asset which will mean 50/50 on the value split.

See, he's working on MY truck. It won't become his for quite a while. I have all the receipts on all of the parts... rebuild kits, engine and transmission doaners, etc.

His truck is a POS that he plows with.

CUSTOM/10 12-29-2007 02:51 PM

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )

No up-dates since Chrstmas day. The next step is to drill new wholes in the frame for the engine crossmember ( Moved forward 1-3/4"s because of the 700R4 ) Also have some clearance issues to deal with on the headers. There beautiful stainless steel headers but not for this year truck. The passenger side should be easy, one tube is just barely touching the frame and should bend away without much effert. On the drivers side the collector flange hits the frame & the 02 bung needs to be relocated.

The date is this coming sunday, dinner & a movie

Oh and yes she knows about the truck, ran that by her when we 1st met, and she has seen the pictures. She has a time consuming hobby also, she has a show horse.

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )

We all have lives to live and have to deal with the crap that is thrown before us. Sounds to me that East Side had some pretty bitter dealings in the past...

You can't live in the past... build the damned truck and deal with it. Don't let anyone destroy your future, even your soon-to-be ex-wife. You know what? After the divorce, and you have recovered... you will look back at all of this and laugh.

She can only get you for half of what it's worth (max) and so what? You need stress relief and girlfriends only add to the pressure right now. Work on your truck, even if it is piece-by-piece.

Oh, by the way, this is being spoken by a guy who has seen a divorce personally. It was years ago and I look back and laugh on how stressed out I was over it. East Side is just living in the past... he hasn't gotten over what has happened to him...

The best revenge??? Be happy and sucessful. Nothing will drive your ex more crazy than you living your life in the future (and be happy doing so), not the past (and be misserable).

East Side Low Life? This is not against you, not at all. And I am sure you will post some comment on how wrong I am and blah, blah, blah. Let this poor guy deal with this in his own way and let the chips fall where they may.

D

The last thing I did was have a custom front drive shaft made up & installed it. I've also been collecting parts for it.

NOS 72 grille outer & inner
NOS Bowtie for the grille
Front bumper brackets

I've been working on house projects the last few months.

Oh, and the DIVORCE is final now, and I still have the truck !!!

I'll be getting back to it soon !!!

I'll be posting more on the project soon. I've done little on it over the last 8 months or so, other than collecting parts. I've been a little distracted, chasing two legged deer around, but now have a renewed interest in the truck. I've made several purchases recently, NOS inner + outer grille & bowtie. NOS front fender, rust free Ca. swb fleet bed cab & doors. So lots to come soon !!!
