Your making good progress. On your inner rockers it looks like you have a good floor return lip on them. Who did you get those thru? All the one's I have installed only have a vertical lip to weld to the floor. I make mine alot do it has that lip that yours has. Also do they have the curved ends that meet up to the A and B post like the stock parts have? A better pic would be great since you are in a holding patern right now!

Thanks,

I seen your white Firebird in the background of a few pictures, very clean and I like that body style also. For the last 5 years I have been doing 2002 and Up Dodge Rams much like you are doing the 67-72 trucks. I have had tons of trucks from the DFW and Houston areas and have also had California as well as Georgia guys come here for suspension drops and high performance parts installs. A guy from Atlanta Georgia was here for 3 days,I did a 1.5-3.5 drop, headers, elec fan,6.1 Hemi cam install, custom y-pipe in the exhaust,4.56 gear and Detroit True Trac install. There is a member here I know who is from DFW area who I supplied his drop kit, disc brakes conversion and parts to named 1970shortbed.

The grey quad cab Ram on that site with the cuystom 5-8 slam is mine and I am the originator of the 5-8 drop on 2002 and Up Rams. I perfected it on mine and did what everyone said couldnt be done by using a 305/40/22 (31.5) tire on a 22x9.5 rim on a drop bigger than 2-4. 4-6 kits require a 30" tire and I was able to make mine work after alot of modifications.McGaughys is the only company with a drop larger than a 2-4 on 02 and up Rams with their 4-6 kit,and I took that kit and made changes for a tried and true 5-8 on mine and I am the only person selling a 5-7 kit for a 2002-UP Ram. I actually work really close with Mcgaughys on the Dodge Ram stuff because they cater mainly to Chevy guys, and when an issue with Dodge Rams comes up they call me. When the suspensions changed in the front of the 06 and up Rams I was lowering them before kits were out,and found out the coils were not the same from 02-05 and sent Mcgaughys factory coils to make their new kits coils from.

I just decided to cater to the Rams while I tried to get a name for myself and build my business for a while. I have been doing mechanic work for now over 20 years, and have specialized in suspension, brakes, alignments, exhaust and under car.I have done a few air systems here locally but most of my drops are static.

ok ive been doing some work...the rust inhibitor came in, and i applied 2 coats ( silver) of the rust bullet and one coat of the protective finish (black) per manufacture recomendation....also got the inner rocker panel welded in, lower kick panel, front and rear pillers...temperarely screwed the outer rocker on, hung the door and front fender to align the rocker as needed.......after lowering the front of the outer rocker bout 1/8" i had my 3/16 (well a paint stick) gap i wanted....i then noticed that the door has rust issues towards the lower front, causeing it to seperate and bow out (seen in pics)...all-in-all the rocker is flush with the bottom of door/fender/and cab corner....here are the pics..

Looking good! When looking down the bottom of the door can you see it flare out? I have had this before but it was the original cab corner that was out and the replacement rocker don't help by having a slight crown to them. I had to cut the cab corner loose and work it out for a perfect door placment. I think it was on the Lemondrop build.

yes you can see it flare out... this is towards the front, so the cab corner wouldnt have anything to do with it, being towards the front, right?? these pics show where it starts to flare outwards ...

the rocker in relation to the front fender, is slightly further in...i mean ever so slighty...this isnt gonna be noticeable at all, once the final fitment of the fender is done, and has some body filler makeing slight imperfections 100% smooth...
here is the vertical gap, it too is 3/16 (at least i hope my paint stick is, cause thats my refrence)..
got the rocker pnl welded in, and here are the cab corner pics of it sanded down...it has been replaced once before (see the thin line of body filler), and looks to be fine..

some pics of tonights progress...started in on the driver side....so far the front "A" pillar, lower foot panel, most of the inner rocker panel, the front cab support, and the lower section of the cab cowl...are the things that are gonna get replaced...also the door seam has rust in a weird spot (seen in pic) that'll get replaced too.this side is better then the pass. side tho, so hopefully it will go quick back together..

I Thought I Was Gonna Have To Cut Off My Cab Corner To Get To It, But Looking At Your Pics I Think I Can Cut Off The Part Under The Rocker To Get To It. You Do Fast Work. It Looks Good!

getting some metal cut out and fitted....the driver side was equallly as bad as the pass side..the inner rocker, lower kick pnl, cab corner, front support, a section of the rear support are all the peices that needed attention....i got all these peices cut and fitted, ready to weld on...im gonna coat everything i can with the rust bullet rust inhibitor before welding (and not being able to access inner peices) anyway here are a few pics...

depends on if that spot will ever be seen....in most cases the backside wont be visable, so the weld isnt ground down...but if it will be visable, ill grind it down...
on this truck, its gonna be nice from under it as well as from above, so the underside welds will be ground down and the underside will be bodyworked, too.

got the driver side inner rocker pnl welded in,and cab support...hung the door to align the outter rocker only to descover the front bottom of the door hit the inner rocker, near the front curve of the angle of the rocker....after wondering why it was doing that and some measuring, i descovered that the ' curve' wasnt the same contour as the bottom of the door, and it also tapered up where i cut it.. futher adding to why it interferred with the door...so i cut out the angle of the rocker and made it so it didnt taper up, and re shaped the curve to match the bottom of the door.....
