Been working on getting the tail lights installed.
The pics are pretty self explanatory. Also ordered a brake pedal assembly from Pirate Jacks and I have to say the were really nice to work with. Ordered my lower tubular front control arms also and will post pics when they arrive. Kim |

Here's a few more pics of the tail lights being installed. I still have trouble welding so its good that I can grind and redo them.

Started working on frenching my license plate also. I had some 16 gauge bent and then welded it up. I had made deeper than it will end up being. I just wanted a little extra to play with the depth on the bed.

Progress is good!

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Looking good!

Re: My 57 Pro Street
from post #44 - man, looking at your work, if that's "trouble welding" then I'm gonna just put my Lincoln welder in the front yard and plant pansys in it! Your work is awesome and shows me how I can salvage the front stubs of my subframe!

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Hey Kim,
Looks like you've been busy. The bed looks great. I like, I really like. Great work man |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Thanks for the compliments guys. I really appreciate the kind words.
hotrodsbyray, I still have trouble with the thinner sheet metal but I just keep trying and eventually get something I can live with. Burn through is what really frustrates meat at times. It seems there is a very fine line between not enough power and to much.If I can do it anybody can. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
very nice work Kim, hopefully I'll be starting my IFS this spring.

Well I did some more work on the license plate.
I didn't like the first piece I made for it so I made another ( the first one wasn't square). Did a layout of where it would go drilled some holes and then conected them. |

I still have to finalize the final depth of it but you can get a little idea of what it will look like.

The UPS guy droped this off at the house today.
Found it at Pirate Jack for $89.00 which was way cheaper than anywhere else. Seems to be a real nice piece and their customer service was very good. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
very nice truck you have there, i like the box idea, very original. as for the pedal assembly, that is what i should have done, oh well live and learn.

Did some more work on the plate mounting.
The pics are self explanatory. I just have to do some finish welding and grinding and it'll be good to go. Kim |

The UPS guy dropped off some more goodies.
These are the upper and lower control arms I'm going to use. They are made by SPC. The ball joints are tall polished Howe units. The lower A-arms will drop the suspension 1" over what the stock ones would set at. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Hey Kim,
It looks like you are really picking up the pace on your build. Nice job on the bed and the goodies look great. |

Re: My 57 Pro Street
I seen a bed close to your's on a truck on e-bay. Did you see it? It was red and chopped and really nice. I think it was in Dallas.

It's a work in progress that keeps changing as I go along in the build. I pretty much have it the way I want it now and just have to do a little finish welding and then get it primed. Kim |

Thought I would post some updates on what I have been doing to my truck.
Pic #1 is a hydroboost unit out of an 05 chevy truck. The next 4 pics show a bracket I made to mount the unit on the frame. The bracket will mount just under the back of the cab witch will put the hydroboost and the master cylinder behind the cab for easy access. I will connect it to the brake pedal with some DOM tube. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street

These next 2 pics show the finished bracket and unit bolted to it.
I had to modify the mounting flange that was on the unit to work with my bracket. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
4 Attachment(s)
I also had to modify the push rod on the unit so it would attach to the pedal.
I cut the end off the push rod and rounded it off. I got a 3/8x24 grade 8 bolt and some 3/8 ID DOM tube. I cut the head off the bolt and rounded that end also. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street

I welded the bolt to the end of the push rod and used the DOM tube to add strength to the new end.
Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Nice mod.
|
Re: My 57 Pro Street
You are doing a great job on that truck Kim, keep up the great work.
|
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Nice mod on the hydroboost. Is that the total length of the rod you're going to use? I'm asking cause I have mine to do once I get the frame work done, but I'm thinking that the rod will need to be longer on mine.

There will be a piece of DOM approximately 30" long connecting the pedal to the hydroboost unit. It will have a threaded insert welded into each end. Kim |
