Im in. Looks incredible. I would just like a profesional opinion on weather I should repair my cab or not. Everybody has an opinion. Great work Eb.

I have family that live in Dallas.

Re: Project Cod Fish

kayotic it is ur call remember it your project. I dont care which cab u switch to there is no such thing as a rust free 35 yr old cab. That is y i decided to go this route with EB. It just depends on funds and skill level post some pics and get some opinions. I look at some so called rust free cabs that were 2000.00 with doors then have the work done on them and ur up there for a truely rust free cab. My goal is to build a really solid truck that i can pass on to my sons so i wanted it to be here. With todays primer and such it will be so i guess make ur own mind up for what suits your needs best

Re: Project Cod Fish

I know rob32472, I will post pics when I get my camara back. My '70 cab is not bad rust wise. As a matter of fact from underneith it is still shiny. Don't get me wrong there is rust just not rust through. It was hit with something on the front corners of the roof. Glass is good but dented the outer and inner skins and part of the top windsheild frame was pushed in. It's like something fell on it along the front 5" on each corner of the roof. I'll get pics up here soon and i'll stop rambeling.

This is your thread - I don't mean to mud duck it.

Deffinetly fantastic work. She'll be good and solid that's for sure. I along with most of us here really appreciate the work going into peoples projects.(well most any way) I like where you are headed - I am keeping an eye on this for sure.

Small update Eb sent me this pic of more of his great work. As u can tell he welded the vent hole up on the cowl box he will box it at the top and it will stay smooth on the sides so no moisture or trash will collect there ever again it is going to be sweet when done.:metal:

Yes, I'm here....I use a variety of grinding tools. The trick, if there is one, is to go slow but not so slow you heat the metal by grinding. I have found by trying to instruct guys on this that this part takes a little of a disciplined touch to get right, Practice on it and you'll get, I'm sure.

Hey EB, what do you recommend for rust above the cab vent holes? My kick panels are rusted out from the floor and up above the vents.

I save some flat pieces from hoods, roofs, old door skins to make patches with. I like to "recycle" where possible. I guess that makes me a "green" fabricator??? I don't know, just doing my part to save the planet.......:)

Thats what I was thinking. Seems like an easy place to patch.

ebfabman is going to put the body filler guys out of business. When he's done with that cab its just going to be perfect pristine metal...nicer than when it was new.

Grey goose.... that has been the plan from the start. My goal is to build the best solid truck that I possibly can...... With as little filler as possible. Keep an eye on the project the frame and suspension are out for powder coat now should be back in @ two weeks.

EB, you think it's better to weld the entire seam from floor to firewall? I just did the plug welds similar to the factory...

ebfabman 02-04-2009 09:36 PM

Re: Project Cod Fish

Mike, I like to weld it all the way to kind of seal the floor to firewall. I think it adds some strength also.

msgross 02-04-2009 09:40 PM

Re: Project Cod Fish

thanks for the info... looks like I have some to weld then...
